Driving was always a thing I thoroughly enjoyed. I drove to Germany, around in th UK, you name it. Until one day when I started to get a driving phobia. Now I can only drive within my 'comfort zone' which is not big believe me :-( and I even lost my job because I cant drive there anymore (27 miles away!!!) I get severe physical symptoms when I know I have to drive somewhere i.e. sickness, palpitations etc. My life is greatly restricted and all nice Summer Sunday Road Trips are fucked up. I am all right up until the night before when I wake up shivering and feeling sick. Its like a blockage in my head, for I want to do it but something prevents me from doing so. Any help is appreciated.Thanks

Sounds like You are having panic attacks.
This is making significant interferences with your life.
So, get yourself on the phone with a psychologist or psychiatrist who can genuinely assist you through and beyond this.
Some will actually do phone-therapy, so get calling!!!

Good therapy will help you get to the root of this.
You may have a dissociated, traumatic memory and under certain circumstances, like feeling unsafe away from the security of your home environment, the physical symptoms which may have accompanied this memory, ie. shivering, palpitations and feeling sick, may resurface. This is called a panic attack.
Once you've experienced how horrible this feeling is, you can begin to associate a simple task like driving with having panic attacks and before you know it, the very thought of being in a car away from home, having one of these attacks, prevents you from even wanting to get in a car.
It's a vicious circle, however, by exploring what is the trigger of this fear, will help you gain an understanding and eventually the means to confront and eradicate the pattern.
CBT is excellent for helping you manage the symptoms and then maybe a more longer term, deeper kind of therapy to explore the fears and anxieties which may be hidden at a deeper level.

Just before you set out - drink vodka. It will help.
