Can the dealer take back the car and give me something smaller than the SUV I got.We are in TX. If there an option at this point to get a smaller car from the same dealer. What are other options. Thanks

Unfortunately, the car is yours. There is no 3-day right to rescind law on vehicle purchases whatsoever. Some dealerships might offer a program like that, but it's not required by law in the US.

If the lender rejects the loan however, then the dealership might take the car back from you anyway, since all legal paperwork signed at a dealership is subject to change if the lender rejects the deal. So unless the lender rejects the loan, you will most likely have to take a major depreciation hit because your car is now a trade-in. On some extremely rare occasions, if you have not put any miles on the car, or very few, and the dealership hasn't finished submitting the paperwork to the lender, they (Dealership) could maybe put you in something else, or take the car back for a fee usually equal to your deposit. I hope this helps

Next time definitely do some homework before even going near a dealership. Now what type of car/vehicle you want by surfing the web and do a lot of looking before even thinking of buying. The dealer wants your business. They may not be happy with not getting as much profit but if it means you walk away then they might be motivated. If the paperwork has not gone through then refuse to sign anything else. Take the car back and see what happens. At the very least it will be a lesson learned.

I just took back a car last week! Our dealership had a three day period where you could cancel all together and pay $750 or you could get a different vehicle through them, which is what I did. I would think that as long as you got something through them, they wouldn't have a problem taking it back for something of equal or more value. You may have to pay something for the 10 days, but for the most part, dealerships try to make you happy. Good luck!

I am pretty sure that once the car leaves the lot its value goes down...a lot. No matter what atate you are in. You could try maybe trading it in or waiting it out and see if you get adjusted to it. I would adivise not trading it in though. Try selling it private party that way you dont lose as much money. Good luck! I just bought a new car 4 days ago and they told me once I left the lot my loses its value. Check it out though. All they can do is tell you no. You never know they may cut you a deal.
