The aloe and coco butter are just an old wives tale! There is nothing you can do to control stretch marks. I am 112 pounds and 5 feet five and have stretch marks so people of all sizes get them! Do not let them get to you so many more people than you think have them!!!

I don't think that stretch marks are hereditary. After the birth of my daughter I did not have stretch marks on my stomach, my sisters also did not get them, however my daughter has a seventeen month old son and she did get stretch marks on her stomach and she got a lot of them. Creams and lotions are good because they keep the skin moist and dryness can contribute to stretch marks. From what I have read the only thing that can help the appearance of stretch marks is laser, micro dermabrasions, and chemical peels. I don't think any type of lotion will help them go away. The lotions and creams might help them look less noticeable, but not make them disappear. Strange thing is when I was young I developed stretch marks on my inner thighs and calves, but when I was pregnant I did not get any. So Really who knows.....

Yes, skinny people do get stretch marks because they are from growing and shrinking in size. (I know this because I got hit twice with them!)
They start off bright purple but fade to a silvery line after a short while and aren't that noticeable.
The best way to try to prevent them is a product called "Bio Oil" which is a very strong moisturizer for the skin to help with its elasticity.

Yes, I have them as well. Over 70% of women that have them get them from growth spurts. They can be caused by sudden weight gain/loss as well.
