My niece is getting married and I'm thinking of buying a gift for the bridal showers. I've heard from couple of co-workers that if you are a close relative of the bride-to-be you should bring more than one gift for the bridal shower meaning you should buy more than one gift for the bridal shower. My question... in general do close relatives do that...is that the norm??? Or close relatives just buy one gift for the bride-to-be. Someone pls let me know!

I have never heard of being required or expected to buy more than one gift for any shower.

Normally close relatives tend to buy larger ticket items off the registry. You could buy a few small items, but I've seen most close family members buy gifts that were about $80+. One hot ticket item, is the KitchenAid Mixer. Do you know that thing is about $350. Those are the type of items that close relatives give.

Maybe I am the one in the dark, but I've never heard of buying more than one gift. You're her aunt, one thoughtful gift is plenty! I know that Mom's sometimes buy their daughters more than one, but I'm sure that's not even expected.

Good luck! :)

alright... well I just had my bridal shower and people brought what they could....I dont think its a requirement to buy her more than one gift, and I dont think it should be. Buy her what you deem appropriate. It's not gifts thats important anyway...its being with the ones she loves and celebrating her getting married.

You only need to bring one gift. Bring more if you feel like it, not because someone said you have to.

One shower = one gift.

No need to go to every bridal shower.

One nice gift in a price range you can afford is just fine. Your love for your niece is not measured in the number of gifts you give her.

A gift is something from your heart, please just give as much as you feel like. Most people don't care how much they are getting and I think most people would rather receive 1 nice well thought out gift rather than 2 so-so gifts.

You just buy one gift (if it's not one big one, then several items together), even if you are attending more than one shower.
