A friend of mine is trying to kick the meth habit on his on. He has a job therefore no time to go thru the rehab process. His wife and kids depend on him to keep a roof over their heads. He works like 12 hour shifts 6 days a week and it's really hard to just try and stop but he know and wants to badly. Can anyone give me some ideas of what might help him get through this a little easier so he don't relapse.

Call a rehab place. Ask to speak with the social worker. Ask if they know of alternative ways to keep the family afloat while he is in rehab?

For example, consider going to Human /Social Services and asking if you might be eligable for TANF and how they might be able to assist him or his family for the purpose of doing drug rehab. There may be other programs, also, or churches might be of help. Don't overlook the relatives. To get him off the drugs sacrifices by the family may be necessary (like her and the kids going to stay with her Mom for a couple months)

These are the kinds of things to be explored with the social worker as he is asking for help. He is much more likely to succeed by going through a quality program. By telling his employer that he is having a health problem, they may hold open his job for him to return to.

Go online and show him pictures of meth addicts...noone should want to look like the after photos. Secondly, as far as energy, I'm in med school and love Red Bulls (perhaps that could help)...in addition to exercising (running is great and tell him he could make it a family thing at the park or whatever...everyone can go running) :) Vitamin B complex is great too...all of the vitamins increase one's metabolism and helps to increase energy too (probably from the increased appetite). Good luck to your friend and you're a wonderful friend for sticking by him and trying to help. I'll keep you all in my prayers. :)

candy bars, chocolate bars. Anything that has sugar in it will give you fast bursts of energy when you are running. Powerade, Gatorade etc will also help a bit.
