There are good answers here. Certainly wish fulfillment is obvious, don't you think so? You want to walk, whether or not you ever walked.
But then the question becomes why do you dream it?
We need sleep; when we dream, we try to resolve conflicts, so that we may continue to sleep. When we can't, we awaken in a nightmare.
Clearly, in your dreams of walking, you are resolving your confilicts regarding being in a wheelchair, so that you can make peace in your sleep and continue on.
That's the literal part. Now the questions become what exactly do walking and being in a wheelchair mean to you, and what do they symbolize for you? You used the word, "confined," so I get that walking means freedom to you.
I think it's a dream about freedom, not just about the literal. I think there's a whole life you're dreaming about, and you want the freedom that goes with that life. I also think that you're doing a fantastic job of dealing with it, if, in fact, these "dreams" stay as dreams and don't become nightmares. If they do, then you'll have to deal with finding freedom in ways, that one "confined to a wheelchair" can, and I wish you lots of love and luck with that work.
There is great freedom to be found in the imagination, more in books than in TV, and something tells me that you will find freedom in writing or painting--just a P.S.
(I have an inspiration for you. Check out the documentary on Steven Hawking, called "A Brief History of Time." There's a surprise in there for you, and it comes from one of the world's greatest geniuses, and he's in a wheelchair.)

Even though, you are confined to a wheel chair, your spirit which is the real life of you can go anywhere and is not confined. I do not want you to get offended by what I am saying. But within you through God you have the ability to get your healing if you believe in Jesus Christ. If your spirit can walk, then it is only a matter of getting your physical body to line up with your spirit. Whatever can happen in the spiritual realm, can happen in the physical also.

That's because in your dreams you see yourself in the supernatural state that is boundless and spirit like. Externally you are confined to a wheelchair but internally your soul is walking around. The internal soul doesn't abide by the same rules of the external body. It could even fly if it wanted to.

Have you always been in a wheelchair? If you haven't it is very common. Many people who are originally from different countries but have lived in the U.S. (or other countries) still have some dreams in their native language. Dreams also work out fantasies and wants, I assume you would like to walk. Dreams are pretty much your brains jibber-jabber, so it can mean anything.

I am no expert on dreams, but, no matter how desperate the circumstances are in our lives, there is always hope. In your case Your hope is clear, who knows what is going to be possible in your lifetime.
Some people do believe that dreams are prophetic, I am not one of them, but, technology is constantly advancing in the field of medicine, and who knows, maybe someday you will get the chance to live that dream.
I actually have dreams of levitating just by the power of the mind. I don't think that will ever happen, but, it sure feels good when in that moment that I begin to sail upward, I really feel free. Wouldn't it be nice if..., huh?
Unless I miss my guess, Jennifer is going to be here and tell you some really good stuff about dreams, cause she knows a lot about that. I am starring this for her.

It means you have an extraordianry drive to walk again. In our dreams we are uninhibited by the chains that bind us in every day life. Here's an excercise you can try before you go to sleep. It may take a few times ....before sleep, meditate about the dream you had when you were able to walk, then think why were you able to walk in the dream, where was your chair. You can control your actions to a point in your dreams, next time you have the same dream, remember, remember remember, where is my chair.

Try walking, force your self to walk.
Your mind wants it. You want it.
So just do it. You may fall along the way. But eventually you get up.
its the way that life works and we all play an equal part in life.

It could be wish fulfillment; you wish you could walk so in your dreams you do. Or, is an element in your personality that is positive and your walking symbolizes that you are able to achieve things you want to do.

have you walked before? it could be your mind remembering something that it wants. or it could mean that you should try.
perhaps you are over briming with ideas that would lead you to a new path so to speak. or its how you really see yourself. since you are you and not your chair. and that is how you would like others to see you. not you in a chair but you for you.

that showed how strong you are. for now you might see yourself walking in your dream. maybe tomorrow, you will see yourself running, jumping, climbing and doing everything. you worked hard, that's why you have nice and pleasant dreams.
