Once i began to question my faith, this question came up. I was at the point of no return. Even if i somehow believed again, i couldn't truly love a god that would allow such a thing as damning someone to hell for eternity.

Murderers, rapists, kidnappers , and theives would think God's laws are a joke if that were true.
True, God is very patient and merciful, but Heaven is Holy and not full of people who want out of hell for doing horrible things. After Death is the Judgement and it is final. Eternal.
Satan is against God and those who reject God and his TRUTH are the spiritual children of Satan.
So many want to know the truth, yet ask some stranger online rather than go to God's word and study.
People will believe a Chinese Fortune Cookie rather than what God's word is!!
Look how quick Princess Diana was killed.......this could happen to anyone at any time, so we all need to get our lives ready to meet God.......it will be an eternal home. This life will go very fast.
God wants us to all live in Peace and Love.

No it does not make me feel good that some people will not go to heaven but it is not Christians who say that only THEY will go. Who was it that said "I am the way, the truth and the life, no-one comes to the Father except by ME."? Christians believe in Christ and Christ said that. If others choose to believe what someone says that is up to them. The verses that you quote are indeed about doing good to others and I agree that 'in those verses' it does not mention faith but it certainly mentions it in other places and the bible has to be taken as a whole not as odd verses here and there. If one portion of scripture seems to contradict another portion that is when you must look further and not use verses out of context. Something else that the bible tells us is that 'faith without works is dead' but also that 'works alone do not save'. It is obvious that the 2 go together. There are many lovely people in this world who would do all manner of good works for those who need help but those good works do not bring salvation. Also, there are some Christians who are sadly lacking in the 'good works' department and they will be answerable to God for that.

If you think that someone like Pharaoh after all he has done in misguiding his people telling them that he's a God and torturing the Israelites and not believing in Moses the messenger of God should be forgiven then you should ask what did Pharaoh did right or good to deserve forgivness or if he had done any good deeds that could erase all his bad deeds?, sorry for him he did nothing to deserve forgivness, it's the same thing for all those who never believed in God or never worshiped Him or those who worshiped false Gods or those who associated with God other partners, all their good deeds couldn't erase that great mistake, that's why their souls cannot enter Heaven and that's God's rule and how it would be on the judgment day, no one on earth didn't receive that message and that warning from that day and all nations with no exception received messengers and prophets from God to guide them and that's how God had mercy on them, He Almighty warned them and told them if they don't believe in Him they will enter Hell fire forever, the only ones who can be forgiven according to Islamic scholars are the Muslims who did great sins and died before they repent those Muslims will go to Hell until all their sins are washed away then they will go to heaven it will be written in their foreheads "Al Juhanamiyoon" means those who were in Hell and these Muslims will only be forgiven because they believed in the only true One God and worshiped none but Him and believed in prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
Hadith reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim "When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise and the people of Hell will go to Hell, Allah will order those who have had faith equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed to be taken out from Hell. So they will be taken out but (by then) they will be blackened (charred). Then they will be put in the river of Hayat (life), and they will revive like a grain that grows near the bank of a flood channel."

That's a very good point. Some people's understanding of Hell is inconsistent with a merciful God.
Fortunately God is perfectly just and perfectly merciful.
Anybody who hasn't lost all sense of charity would sorrow for those in Hell.
People only remain in Hell if they refuse to obey the laws associated with more pleasant conditions.
Note that this understanding of Hell also applies to those still in their mortal condition who fail to obey the laws associated with happiness.

Interesting question. Would you, if you had the power to do so, forgive Hitler?Attila the Hun? The Boston Strangler? Son of Sam? What about those responsible for the 9/11 destruction of the World trade Center? And what about the college student who recently murdered many classmates? Add to that list the kids who were responsible to the Columbine High School tragedy; and any other person who has abducted, abused, and murdered innocent children. Would you forgive???
In my opinion; sometimes "I'm sorry" just doesn't cut it. As the Bible tells us, "Ye reap what ye sow."

No. I think that everyone gets out.
After they inadvertently end up in their own personal hell.....
they can only feel better about things if they truly repent. Then they are automatically no longer in hell. To me repenting is part of spiritual evolution and emotional development.
I don't know if you can be in heaven without knowing how to be there- at least at first. Eventually I think everyone ends up there somehow. By Godly intervention ultimately, throughout everyone's evolution.
It is harder to evolve once you have passed but it is possible. It is easier on earth simply because there are opportunities provided here that almost force you into spiritual evolution. Those that ignore it are ignorant and end up in their own personal hell. Same as those who act evillly. They bring themselves down.

The truth from the Bible?
First, there is no such place as a hell where the wicked go for eternal punishing. The wicked will simply die and cease to exist. They will suffer eternal punishment, not eternal punishing (note the difference, one is final).
The idea of eternal life for the wicked is one of the lies Satan told Eve:
God said: Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Satan said: Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die......
In other words, Satan told Eve that sin would not bring death.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
James 1:15 Then when its time comes, desire gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is of full growth, gives birth to death.
Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.......20: The soul that sinneth, it shall die.
The concept of hell as a place of eternal torment is from paganism and adopted by the catholic chruch. A lot of the theology of hell is taken by a play by Dantes called "The Inferno". It does not come from the Bible at all.
Secondly, the reward of the saved is not heaven. No one is going to heaven, except for maybe the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelations 19:7). The Saints are going to rule with Christ on earth for 1,000 years (Revelations 20:6), During which Satan will be bound (v:2), after which Satan will come back on the scene (Rev 20:3,7). After this final rebellion from Satan and his followers, Satan will bedefeated and cast out from the presence of God forever.
After all this, Revelations 21 &22 show that God is going to bring a New Jerusalem down from heaven and He is going to rule from there. If HE is there, so will be the saints.
So, the Saints are not going to be in heaven celebrating, they are going to be here on Earth rebuilding and serving God.
There is also no Biblical concept for a bunch of pansies standing around playing harps in God's Kingdom.
We will have work to do.

Well...God gives a fair warning and description of what hell is like. And He said once you are damned there is no more hope for you, you are a lost soul. So they all made their beds and they must lay in them for all of eternity...God is merciful enough to at least give us the chance to go to Heaven...And the bible says that there will be no sadness or sorrow for the lost souls in Heaven, and that there will be peace in the valley. So in other words....screw the damned and lets party

I'm a Christian, and I think that you wrote this question very well. It is a tough question to be sure, and since the most learned scholars do not seem to have answered it conclusively, the chance of anyone here answering it is low.
I believe that the answers that have been given involve semantics, but I don't know much more than that.
