Hello, Shelly:
We are not living in the Dark Ages when Bibles were burnt and pastors preached in a language you did not understand.
With a great cost, translators faced execution to get the Word in a language so a man who drives a plow can know more about God than the preacher.
If you place your trust in church attendance and your preacher, you will certainly fail. You must establish a personal relationship with Jesus. Let Him be your sufficiency and His Holy Spirit your guide.
Turn off those soaps and smut on t.v. and invite Jesus into your life. Then with Him dwelling within, the things of this earth will grow strangely dim, and the rays emanating from the Holy City will be your hope for an eternity in unfallen worlds where there is no pain, death, or tears.
Eternal life was purchased at an infinite price, Shelly, and do not sell your eternity on a cheap market. God has hidden a special message in His word to help you withstand end-time deceptions. Select: http://abiblecode.tripod.com

Good to hear you are living your life the best way you know how. To avoid false teaching you will need to read the scripture on your own in addition to getting some type of study guide. Prayer is very important. Church is very important too because it gives you some accountability. You do not have to accept all the doctrines that are taught especially the ones that have nothing to do with salvation. I think it is clear through scripture as to how we are to live our lives. Everyone will always be learning throughout their entire life. What makes some of the scripture hard to interpret is that it was written in such a way that the meaning could be different in the culture at that time than what it would be in ours. That is why we also need to understand what the context of the times were back when it was written.
There are many good teachings from people who have studied the meaning behind the verses that can be somewhat confusing to us today. I find that when I get a better understanding of those verses, it only makes God's word more powerful to me.

I consider myself a lifelong convert. I was born into a LDS family, though my family was not strong in the Church, didn't to go to chruch a lot when I was young. We did go to church and get recommends so that the family could be sealed. But shortly after that I had a crisis of faith until a person, who knew nothing of the Church, asked me exactly how did the LDS Church differ from other churches and I realized that I didn't know. I decided to find that answer and began studying the Church, both from pro and anti sources. The anti claims were so outrageous in their views that I began to wonder why they were. By studying the LDS scriptures I discovered why this is and have felt my testimony grow every day. And for those who claim that their research shows otherwise, that is their choice. But there is so much evidence within the Book of Mormon itself if one has eyes to see and ears to hear.

Check out what the Bible says! If your church isn't following it, maybe you should go somewhere else! My church says that women shouldn't lead the worship service b/c of some particular verses. But I disagree. I think that they were telling the Christian women back in the day that if they were leading the worship, it would freak out the people, so leave it to the men! Today the culture is way different! Anyway, I don't think churches should worry about all this petty type of thing! Focus on JESUS and the rest will fall into line! :) hope that helps :)

You have basically answered your own question. You are a Christian, You read the Bible. God is working through you and what you interpret from your readings. As Paul said " Work out your salvation with fear and trembling" also " I die daily" There is no sure way of living perfectly each day. One man's sin is not another's. We, as Christians are not perfect. We are just forgiven.
The main thing is to pray before you read your Bible, and God will give you what He wants you to receive. There is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus.
God bless you go down Life's journey, for there are many you will meet that are judgmental, critical, and downright nasty, but few that are beneficial and helpful. The ones that are in the wrong loves to drag you down to their level.

Prayer will be your best answer. Dont sweat the small stuff. Focus on the commandements which have never changed. the lord will provide a way if you sincerely ask him to help you find what is true. Do you have a book of Mormon? Moroni 10: 4 and 5 All you have to do is ask and then just "be" while you wait. You will feel good if you ask specifically for what you should do.

Church is a manefestation of a sect or aspect of religion and these vary widely.
As a Catholic you have to believe in the church or be removed from the body.
As a Protestant you can think for yourself and decide, although the church may not hold with your views and if so, then you must find another church.
I'm not into Churches or organized Religions.

You need to go with your gut. Some religions, though perfectly valid in and of themselves, have changed rules and doctrine over the years, such as the Mormons. If what you hear does not ring true in your heart, disregard it. Maybe you need to seek out a different spiritual tradition that will embrace what you believe to be true spiritual principles. Good luck!

many of them are like that, I also grew up in a church pretty much like that, trying to tell me what to wear and to wear it and everything else, I wouldn't go back to that church or any other one with the same name again, if one will do it they all will do it. You just need to be careful and keep your eyes open, pray and ask God to guide you. we can not always believe everything we are told by others and in order to get the truth read the Bible and talk with God...

A woman should be modest. Most churches have gotten away from modesty requirements because it is not popular and they want to please. At college where I attend we have a policy of no pants or jewelry except a wedding band. Let God speak to you and you listen. He will guide you. Give it time and do what you feel is right according to His word.
