Grass is fibrous, so eating it helps them digest their meal and helps it pass through their intestines more easily. It is a normal activity and no cause for concern.

Hi there. Dogs and cats will do that when they don't feel well. It is a way for them to feel better and get rid of the icky stuff in their tummy's. You may also want to talk to a vet about his/her foods. Remember all the warnings that have been coming out about dog food? There may be poisons or something in it's food. Some foods are sent by places that have euthenized an animal and then sent that animal to the food processing plants with all those chemicals still in the animal. Besides, I sure don't want my kitty, or dog in your case, to eat another dog (or kitty). So be very careful on a lot of this stuff. I just found all this out and it made me ill. So don't feel bad for not knowing about it. So, best thing is to find a vet you trust and he can tell you which is best to feed your little pet friend. IAMS was recalled, along with many other dry foods, so make sure you find a vet that will suggest mixing home cooked, or raw meat, etc.. I'm not a vet, so this is just from someone with experience. Just wanting to help, or lead you in the right direction. And, thank you for loving your pet the way you do.

it is true, dogs eat grass to ease an upset stomach. and it's ok sometimes if they are doing that. however, if they do this frequently then maybe you have another problem. if your dog is scarfing down his food then maybe he ate too fast and it makes him want to throw up, so if you have multiple animals, i would separate them when they eat so they don't feel threatened for their food. or maybe he has a sensitive stomach and you may want to try to switch foods. also keep in mind that when they eat grass they could be picking up a parasite from rain water, or where another animal has been, or different factors so be careful not to let them do it as frequent. if you are having a problem with frequent vomiting i would consult a vet.

Sometimes, dogs eat grass because they have a stomache ach. If the dog has just eaten, and it starts eating grass, it's probably because it ate to fast or needs some help digesting.
I'm not sure, that's just what I heard

Well, obviously it wasn't a good meal because dogs eat grass for two reasons, to ease an upset stomach and to throw up. So, if your pups are doing this after they eat, you might want to change their food.

This isn't a fact but I've heard it aids in the digestion, such as salads do with with humans. And while you may think your dog has had a good meal, that meal may not be agreeing with him/her and they are intuitively seeking out what aid they can find, ergo grass.

Dogs eat grass as a form of medication. It helps them to puke so that they will feel better.

That's one of those million dollar questions; nobody knows for sure although there are a lot of guesses. Whatever the reason, it is generally harmless.
