It is a matter of personal preference and works for you. What works for you may or may not work for someone else.

Hydrocodone is a lot more powerful than codiene. On on arbitrary, relative scale, if Hydrocodone was a 6, codiene would be a 2 or 3.

The 300 is the amount of aspirin and the 30 is the amount of hydrocodone.

Its like taking a shot compared to a mixed drink. If you take the straight shot then it will be in a smaller does. If you take a mix drink its more alcohol when mixed.

The body handles the higher dose of hydrocodone better when its mixed with Tylenol or Ibuprofen then it would if you just took it straight.

Codeine is an older medication; the hydrocodones are newer. They tend to be 'smoother' and don't give you a groggy feeling the way codeine can. However, they should work just as well for pain. Personally, I'd stay away from codeine. It's what pharmacists call an 'inelegant' drug.

codeine is a different active ingredient, like the difference between aspirin and tylenol and aleve. They work for different people differently as a caution, any of the opiates are strong and addictive.
