Or is there a good site where I can research mental disorders? I'm trying to find out more about them for a book I'm writing.
So, is there such a thing (as the disorder above)? I thought I heard about something like that, but I don't know where.
Thanks!

Depending on how bad the chemical imbalance in the brain is, many mental disorders cause people to lose control of their actions. You can do some research on WebMD or the Mayo Clinic. Good Luck!

Persons with Tourette's Syndrome make noises, speak and do movements they cannot control. Often they have no memory of doing it.

A person with multiple personality disorder (known today as Dissociative Identity Disorder) can be only partially aware of something that is thought or said or done, as the full knowledge of what they do is hidden from the other "alternate parts" (alters)
In other words, If you have personality A, B & C, each holds its own segment of knowledge and skills and memories. Alter C is not necessacarily aware of what alter B had for dinner, and might be shocked or angry that alter A saw the TV show, but C missed it. (Healing of this disorder is done by initially introducing the personalities to each other, making each aware of the others functions, and then working with them to join into one with co-knowledge of all that is said and done by this person)

I googled "impulse control disorder" and came up with a bunch of potentially helpful sites. This one is a pretty basic summary

Hello Phantom. Mental illnesses are caused by spirits....and yes...in most of them you cannot control your actions. Spirits will lead you to do not pleasant things like harming yourself or others. The scientific explanation of mental illnesses is that the person brain chemistry is all messed up. There is an imbalance in brain neurotrasmiters
