Well...I know a girl who has really weird-looking stringy hair. I could not for the life of me figure out why it was like that. One day, she told me that she paid $700 to get her hair chemically straightened. The majority of her hair snapped at the root about a week after she got it done. The story she told me was devastating. I don't know...it might work but then there is a pretty big chance that it will destroy your hair.

I have my hair chemically straightened. I get it done every 8 weeks.
Depending on the strength of your relaxer, some don't require a "touch up of the roots" up to 2-6 months after the first one. Any chemical put onto the hair is damaging in some way. But, if you take care of your hair and use a shampoo and conditioner that restores moisture, you should be fine. Also, avoid using lots of heat on your hair. Air dry instead of blow dry, straighten only once a week if needed, etc. Good luck, and I hope your hair turns out!

Chemical straightening is the most caustic thing you can do to your hair. But that doesn't mean it will destroy your hair. An experience, talented hairdresser can straighten your hair and properly condition it so your hair will be great looking and strong. If this wasn't possible, all of Hollywood's actresses (and some actors) would be out of luck! It's been well-done for many years. Just thoroughly check out the salon and hairdressers in your community before you do it. If you need more help with this, email me through Yahoo!Answers.

Depends on whether or not you take care of your hair. I have seen people with long hair who have perms and those with blow and dry. Chemical straightening, like anything where chemicals are used is not a natural process. Ultimately you decide whether or not your hair will be damaged. You have to find what works for you. For me i found that using Hawaiian silky helped lock in moisture and keeps my hair healthy. I also love TCB lite conditioning and summit liv depending upon where my perm is at 1st month or 2nd.

I hope this helps

I did a magic straight on my hair and it last about 5-6 months.. it somewhat does damages your hair.. I got this done because I didnt want to sit and use a straight iron every time I was my hair.. you can color your hair but it's better not to because it will get more damages on your hair.. try coating.. it's like glazing and protects your hair from being damaged from the sun.. you can pick your colors but that will last about 1 month.. the price ranges.. I did mine for $175 from a well known hair salon.. prices are cheaper in some places and a bit higher..

your hair gets brittle! it breaks easily when you're too rough with it.. And when you tie it with something and then untie it afterwards, it doesn't look good; you'd have to let it hang loose all the time. it all varies with every person, but i know some people who had their hair get thinner when they had it straigtened. Some began to have dry hair.

And yeah, some people are also allergic to the chemicals they use to straighten hair. so check with your doctor first.

Pretty bad. I don't know, just guessing. But I would guess that it would be bad for your hair. Try blow drying it while brushing it to get a smooth look, and then spray it with super hold hairspray to get it to stay for a long time. That way is much healthier.
