I think fifty dollars is good.

How old do you have to be to babysit?
Participants must be 11 years of age by the last scheduled course date to receive a certificate for American Red Cross Babysitter's Training. This age was selected as most states require children to be 11 before they can be left alone for short periods without adult supervision. However, local or state regulating agencies may have different age requirements to be able to babysit. Check with your local child welfare, child protective services, health department and/or police. You may receive different answers, so ask for a written copy of the statutes and or regulations that pertain to your location.

STOP!!!!!!!!!!! That girls parents have not business letting her be responsible for your children. They would be arrested for leaving her alone until 3 am and you actually feel that it is OK to leave her with you babies. That is actually no better than leaving them alone. We are not talking in the afternoon so you can run to the store we are talking the middle of the night.

I am sorry but I feel this is extremely selfish of you no matter what her training.

My daughter is Red Cross trained for babysitting and was at the time her little brother came along and guess what. She could watch him for 20 minutes when he was 3 months and at 6 months my parents came over to be her back up when we wanted to go out. Not only that but in two weeks they are coming over to be her back up again and he is now 2 and she is 16 and very responsible and trustworthy. I may be overprotective but if there is some freak accident and my daughter loses it my adult parents will know what to do.

Please use her for errands and personal time for up to an hour during the afternoons but don't put her or your children in that position at night or ever for that long........

It is against the law to let a 12 year old stay alone on their own let alone look after younger children, I dont care if you think this 12 year old is responsible or mature, if something goes wrong, it will be YOU who gets the blame and its unfair to put such a responisbility on such a young child.

I havent been out on my own in over 5 years with my husband becuse I cant find a safe babysitter, my childrens health and well being come before anything else.

ok after reading the other posts it would seem in NEW ZEALAND it is against the law to let a child under 14 baby sit... personally I still wouldnt but its up to you.

well, that's 7 hours. Two kids (and one is a baby so they need extra attention) i would probably pay around 6 bucks an hour since its two kids and one is an infant. Thats around $40. But it's really up to you.
But 3 am is wayyy to late. I would be back at midnight AT THE LATEST. She may be very responsible, but she is still 12 years old. This will be a really really hard job for her. So please, dont go so late?

I dont care how responsible a 12 year old is. Leaving someone that young alone until 3am is insane much less having her WATCHING two other children.

I can understand if you were running to the grocery store or something like that but until 3am? I would never let my child watch other kids that late at that age.

I'm sorry to say this, but I think a twelve year old is just too young to watch a baby for that long. I personally would want someone older for that length of time. I pay my sitter 7 dollars an hour. She is 15. I wouldn't even leave her for that long.

12 is 2 young....if something happened and the police came it is considered child neglect due to her age. Plus i wouldnt even trust a teenager with my 6 month old, 3 year old yes but not a baby.

Could you bring your kids to her house where the parents are?

around $20, and get her inrolled in safe sitter classes available through the Red Cross, so she can be prepaired better for an emergency.

I wouldn't personally let a 12 yr old babysit such a young baby, but I would let a 12 yr old to babysit a baby over 1 year, but they are your kids...

Has she taken a Red Cross Babysitting course? What if the baby starts to choke? What if the three year old starts to vomit or has diarrhea? You are taking a big chance with your precious babies.
