It would be wrong to say that this passage applies to every televangelist since I don't know all of them and I don't know what is in the heart of even one of them. But for the most part, I would say that this passage applies to those televangelists who claim to heal people with one hand while their other hand is out asking for your money.
2 Peter 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

Before I give my opinion, I need to say that I believe that televangelists as a group, not as individuals, serve themselves, not God. Some actually are sincere and helpful to God's cause.
No healing can be done without faith. Even if the televangelist is a fake or a thief, I believe that the faith of the people is real. Faith is the power that enables God to move in our lives.
If faith dies, miracles cease. If faith is alive and strong, miracles happen frequently in the lives of those who love God. This can include healings, if it is God's will.

I believe Faith Healing is a gift. People should not get money or glory from it. My grandmother had the gift of healing bleeding. She said she said a prayer and believed it would stop. Some examples of this are: my brother had and still has a low platelet count (he is not a hemophiliac) and stepped on a railroad nail about 5 inches in length. Mom told me to call Grandma to tell her what happened. The bleeding stopped as soon as I called her.
My mother was driving a fence post into the ground with a sledge hammer when she hit the fatty part of her hand between the thumb and first finger. Blood was shooting out of her hand in an arc. I ran to call my grandmother. She told me it was fine now. When I got back outside, mom's hand was no longer bleeding. My grandmother's faith was strong and so was my mother's. My faith is strong as well. No one else in my family has this gift.

Throw caution to the wind my friend. What gets me about some of them is there boasting. Where they say; I have done this or I have done that! It's not the "I" that does the healing. It's Jesus that does the healing!
To tell who is legitimate?
Pay attention to who gets the credit! Is the healing exalting Jesus, or self - the individual?
That little word "I" has gotten a lot in trouble in God's Eye!
Notice Lucifer of Isaiah 14:12-14, and his use of the word "I"?
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.
Throw up spiritual red flags, when you see the "I" Ego!
Miracles do happen, don't get me wrong. But, its Jesus who does the healing!

Well, Benny Hinn has a high calling and a gift of faith & healing. I have heard a few testimonies personally from people who were miraculously healed.
My sister n laws friend was healed of a breast lump. A lady at our Women of Hope couldn't attend because of a crippling disease. God had a special appointment for her & she was touched by the electricity of God at a Benny Hinn gathering. Benny said that those Gods electricity touched needed to come to the front. She did act out & the line was long but someone led her to the front. Then she made a fool of herself because she could jump, etc. freely. This crippling disease was very painful. Also, I prayed together with sisters in faith, & God confirms Benny Hinn a true anointed/gifted man of faith in God.
But, then also, my Pastor came back with this gift & we have had lumps dissapear, head aches go, etc. in our church. http://www.riveroflifefellowship.org .
Jesus is healing today, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

I'm not sure about the stuff on tv cuz u can't trust everything you c on tv, but healing through faith is definately true. I know people who have been healed through faith and prayer. I know people who have prayed for the sick and the sick were healed, I know that it is true because Jesus performed many miracles to heal the sick and they were healed. I have read books that gives testimonies that through faith, the people were healed. If you don't have faith, you can't do anything for Christ. You have to have faith to believe and then faith to act. In the Bible, there was a lady who had this sickness where she kept on bleeding. She had so much faith in believing that Jesus could heal her, that she knew that if she just touched Jesus' cloak, she would be heald. And she was healed.

Oral Roberts was the best in the business. He would have people touching their TV screens for healing. Yes indeed..he would tell everyone watching to 'reach out and touch their screen' then he would hold his hand up to the camera and "BOOM" all was well! What a Guy! Benny Hinn and the healers of today can't compare!

Um.... most of the so called televangelists are phoney. U should be able to pick the ones that are. They ask for money to "support the work of God". Those ones pocket the money themselves.
But I'll tell u who was a true modern day prophet of God, and that was Herbert W. Armstrong. He died in 1986 aged 93 and he lived for God most of his adult life.
I live in Australia (as a child I lived in New Zealand) and I met him. He was American and he went to New Zealand as an old man. We were kids at a Church summer camp and we all lined up to meet him. He slowly walked down the line and shook each child's hand and spoke a few words. When it was my turn, I saw this tiny old man (smaller than me and I was only 17) who when he touched my hand, I was completely blown away. I couldn't speak. His hand was baby soft, and when I looked up I swear his face glowed. It was wonderful. I only saw him for a few seconds but he just blew me away.
I listened to hundreds of his sermons, some of them over satelite, but I'll never forget meeting Herbert W. Armstrong. I cried for days when he died.

The Lord heals man. Man has no control who the Lord heals. Whoever makes a show of it is in danger of self glorification and the punishment that follows.
