In class we have been having these debates about immigration and immigration issues. Some people say that illegal immigrants cause problems, and that they should be kept from moving into the U.S. I say that America should make legal immigration easier, under the knowledge that people come in anyway, and are often honest workers. I think that if the laws were a bit looser, people wouldn't think it IMPOSSIBLE to come into the U.S., and then come in legally.

This country was founded on immigration and LAWS. Come in legally and you are welcome. Yes it is hard to stay sometimes but there are criminals who come illegally because they know they cant come legally. No do not losen our borders and do not make new laws just enforce the ones we have. There are much more important things for our government to do then keep going over this dead subject. Enforce the laws we have. If you really want to come to the USA you will do it legally zillions (ok maybe not zillions) do it every year.

Did you know in 1986 America did grant 3million illegal immigrant citizenship and look what happen after that now we have 12-20 million who again wants citizenship so at some point the government have to stop because they starting an big issue buy loosing up and grant citizenship to the 3 millions who wanted it. Not all illegal are here to work majority of the illegal immigrants about 95% donot have no type of education do you know what this will do to our economy. They enter a company and break the law why should we grant them rights they are not American Citizens. When an American Citizen breaks the law we go to jail and once we get out all our rights are taken away. We cannot get a job or vote but why should someone that is not American citizen break our laws then we give them 100% all rights come on now. I would rather see all the criminals in jail be release and get 100% rights before an illegal immigrant who breaks the law and get more right then AMerican Citizens. Bush needs to get out of Office and By the way this law is not going to pass. Mark my work what will pass is the governement will enforce stricker laws.

I think we should have a culture over greed policy.

You don't pay for the application. The reason being is would you pay for something like a TV if you did not know if you were going to get your TV?

Second, you must go through courses and learn the language, american history, the constitution and the pledge of allegience.

During interrogation, you must take a test revolving around what is stated above. You must also say the pledge of allegiance in front of interrogators.

Grading:

If you did not know the pledge of allegiance and you rolled your eyes while saying it or otherwise showed you have no respect for our country, That will be a huge mark on your score Especially if you do it in a hateful or rude manner.

History, constitution and language will be treated like test scores at school with no leniancy.

If you make an A. Welcome to the country. You either pay no fee or a small fee.

If you make a B you pay a reasonable fee.

If you make a C you pay a higher fee

D and F means you don't get your citizenship. Depending on the situation, it is up to the interrogators to choose if you get a second chance to study again or not. You cannot have a third chance.

If you have a misdemanor, that will be inspected. If it's something very minor, you still should get a chance. If it's something major, no chance at all. You will not pass go, you will not be allowed. What is minor and major will have to be provided since so many people deem minor marijuana possession as major. It will be written what is minor and major and INS will have to be informed of the distinctions.

The way to stop Illegal Immigratipn is to cut off the money. Make it a federal crime to employ an illegal immigrant. Fines should start at the 25,000$ level. Thats per employee! I guarantee you companies would double check to make sure their employees are legal. Of course this would only work if it is enforced....unlike the immigration laws now.

It's not that we don't want aliens here. It's that we don't want illegal aliens here.

There are many immigrants who are waiting in line to come here legally. They filed the proper forms, paid the amount required, and are legally waiting their turn to come here. When they get here, they will pay their way. They will get jobs legally, and the government will collect their taxes just like others here legally.

Let's say you are excited about riding the best roller coaster in the Amusement Park. You are in line, and all of a sudden 10 million people butt in line. Now, you might not get to ride the roller coaster at all. If you relate this to America, you might not even be able to get into the Amusement Park for about 10 more years. Is that fair to you? You did all the proper paperwork, and paid the proper fees, but these people just butted in front of you without doing anything properly. Should they just be allowed to stay in line ahead of you?

It's not that we don't want them. It's that we don't want them illegally. We want them legally. Others were in line first.

These aliens who have legally waited to come here, may have wives and children who are apart from eachother. Illegal aliens keep them farther apart.

Also, the government has to pay out more money (your hard-earned money), and raise taxes because illegal aliens don't pay Federal Tax.

Illegal Aliens may be very nice people, and hard workers, but they are very unfair to everyone.

I hope this helps with your class debate.

Too many times people talk about immigration but they don't make the distinction between legal and ILLEGAL. They try to blur the two and imply that they are basically the same. This is so far from the truth! I am so sick of it! WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND? I honestly think that amnesty will not be passed. While the Senate's piece of crap probably will, since they don't care what the voters think, the House is too afraid of loosing their jobs! Most Americans are strongly against amnesty. Many House members would, AND SHOULD, not be re-elected since the voters will be angry. I used to support Bush. However, when he starts pushing this garbage and claiming (AKA lies) that it will be good for this country, I am so pissed off. They are even indicating that they don't care that voters are against it! They should care since we are their employers and we "hired" them to do a job. They are not doing their job and should be FIRED!

No it should not, easy for some school professor , to explain
things, so cut and simple. However outside in the real world,
all the simple explanations , don't work. Truth is people that violate the Law, for whatever reason, alter the Whole Equation.
If a Balcony is rated for 50 People, with tickets, and they are on the Balcony, when another 25 people jump on because they want to also enjoy the View, it will collapse, fair or not, it
will not sustain the weight.

Once we recover from the huge over-immigration through illegal immigration, maybe. But not now. Immigration should not be allowed in numbers greater than our schools and hospitals can adequately provide for while providing for us, as well. Right now, our schools are overcrowded and failing our own children, hospitals are closing under the strain of so many who can't pay, and services are being cut across the board. That is not a situation where you say 'yeah, sure, bring in even more.'

Our laws should be respected and violators should not be rewarded, Illegal immigrants should not be allowed to become legal or citizens, If our laws don't mean anything then we are not a sovereign nation, and the price we will pay, will eventually in the not to far distant future, will be total anarchy.

Well, I think that the primary problem isn't immigration per se, but rather how immigration is treated and viewed.

The first thing that we should do is try to improve other countries so they don't have to immigrate.

The guest worker program is tantamount to outsourcing. It is not treated as such by the government. The government wants to view immigrants as day laborers to create a system of haves and have-nots.

I think in general, we should try encourage immigration only for assimilation. So, a Mexican American should be treated just like an Irish American or German American. But, they need to be American. We need special provisions to ensure assimilation in this case because Mexico is a border country.

Also, we need to prevent rapid population growth. The economy cannot survive if the US population keeps up this growth rate, especially if Mexico's growth rate doesn't decline. I don't know how to do it humanely.
