Atheists I think believe we are here for no reason at all, and so we can each make up our own reason that suits us. Christians believe we are here to serve and glorify the God of the Bible. Eastern Religions and New Agers believe we are here to learn and experience and we keep getting reincarnated until that job is done. Many people who have Near Death Experiences also say this is what they learned. But Christians warn that mystical experiences and NDE's are tricks from Satan to keep you from believing in Jesus so you'll go to hell.

People have beliefs about why we're here but we can never know for sure until after we die (assuming we even find anything out then), so the only people who REALLY know, and who no one can refute, are the ones who can't come back to tell us.

So since no one can KNOW that theirs is the "correct" path (if there is one), how does anyone decide on a path to take in life. How did you decide on yours?

Also, does it bother not being able to know for sure whether your path in life is the "correct" one (again, if there is one)?

I haven't really decided yet. I'm still looking.

If people were really honest, they'd all say the same thing.

"Since You Asked" God chose Me…
25. There are some people who have never heard of the Gospel, and they go through life without knowing Christ. Isn’t it a pity that they will never be saved? Does God choose to save only some but not all?

The first thing that we need to understand is that God does not owe salvation to anyone. The fact that He chose to save some out of so many is already amazing. By right, no one should be saved at all, because all alike are sinners worthy of eternal death (Romans 3:10 - "There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God."; Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;")

Secondly, the cause for the condemnation of the lost is not that they had never heard of Christ, but their own sin and rebellion against God. God has given every human being a conscience that shows them right and wrong. (Romans 2:14-15 - "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;")

Thirdly, God is always righteous in judgment. No one can accuse Him of being unfair or unjust (Deuteronomy 32:4 - "He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.")

First of all, it is totally untrue that no one knows the meaning of life. The exact, true, and overriding meaning and purpose of life is right out in front of you all of the time, practically slapping you in the face. There can be no controversy about the meaing and purpose of life because we are a single purpose entity, we do only one thing, we create new knowledge. All else we do is a byproduct of creating new knowledge. This is the only common thread that runs through all of humanity, and has always been the oly common thread through humanity since the first man stood on his hind feet and planned his own future. The only "correct path" follows logically as any effort that improves our ability to create more new knowledge.

Knowledge is the realm of the real, 'belief' is the realm of the imagination, and imagination is merely a homemade movie in your own head.

Christianity is a device that the Roman nobility invented in 313 AD to protect their wealth and persons, and to control their profit making slaves.

People who describe to you what happens to you after death can be assured that no one will ever refute what they say.

Here is my reasoning. There is no doubt that we have this inner desire for our lives to have purpose, to mean something, to have worth. We either received that desire from nature (evolution, culture, etc.) or it was put in our minds by our Creator.

If it comes from nature, then it is trick being played on us by nature to get us to behave and we're slaves to it. It is driving us to find something that isn't there and our only option is to deceive ourselves that we can make something up.

If it comes from our Creator, then we have to ask why He put it there. The only reason I can see is that He wants us to seek Him. Our need for meaning points to our Creator. This is the option I choose.

Christians might "believe we are here to serve and glorify the God of the Bible", but what that means is to enter into a mystical fellowship with our Creator. Christians serve God in the same sense that loving children serve loving parents.

I lead my life by my own moral code, and the pursuit of knowledge, which in turn changes my destination.

A correct path doesn't exist for me, as every kernel of knowledge is different, and each puts me on a different path, hence there is no end.

For me the Bible came alive and real to me. Jesus sacrifice for me broke my heart. I believe that His life was given to cover my sins and errors understanding God. The Holy Spirit now brings many things to my mind and heart to show me my right and wrong. I know that He is real and don't have any doubts otherwise. God bless you.

Jesus died, and He came back to life. He knows. I decided on mine because of the love God shown me first.

Just for argument sake, if I am wrong, what do I hafve to loose, if the Christian is wrong, what do the others have to loose.

I decided because something deep inside of me tells me it is the Truth. I can fell it in my Heart and I can feel an amazing closeness with God that tells the same. (Christian)
