It doesn't take an expert to say yes.
It causes you to lust in your heart which is a sin. It is a common struggle for many people.
I am a youth ministry major at a Bible College, so I'm not just blowing some type of smoke that has been passed to me from my parents. I have studied and the truth is, lust is wrong. What is the by-product of masturbation? It is lust. Anyone who would be able to masturbate without lust isn't human.
Do not let answers that say no persuade you to justify it.

Depends on alot of things. If you are married and using this to withhold sex from your spouse then you are sinning. If you are thinking about sex with other people while you are doing this then you are sinning because of what you are thinking. If it is some sort of addictive behavior that you can't stop doing, then it is a sin because the behavior has control over you. If it is associated with the use of pornography or innapropriate on-line relationships then obviously, you are sinning. Most people fall into one of these categories and therefore it is a sin for those people. I have been told that if you are just doing it and don't fall into these categories then it is probably OK. I have also been told that it is a sin no matter what, but no one has ever given me a good reason for that belief.

check out the 10 commandments and try to find where they state there is any prohibition on masturbation. Those are the only true law of god; the rest of the old testament is merely the rules of man and as we all know man likes to treat things pleasurable as bad or sinful despite there being no sin involved.

Masturbation has nothing to do with ethics. It is purely physical phonomenon related with passions, lust, emotions of mind. One must discharge his high temper or irritating/devilish passions through it, as and when required but in a solitary place where none except you are there. No guilty consciousness out of it as it helps to discharge evil/devilish passions. Don't think over it again and again, no repeatition frequently as it reduces 'stamina', the most essential factor of the body for creativity and good and healthy life.

The act of masturbation itself isn't a sin, but its whom your thinking of or lusting after that's the problem...Understand? If a husband and wife did it as four play i believe its fine...

The Bible only contains the story of Onan, who was punished for avoiding giving a child to his brother's widow. He was not punished for masturbating.

yes it is because that is allowing human nature to drive instead of the spirit of God. If you were saved you would'nt see any reason to masturbate, ( it is also a waste of time, and sperm)

Are you lusting in your flesh when you are doing it? Then yes it would be a sin I don't care what anyone says but I doubt you would go where there's weeping and gnashing of teeth for it..
