German

Better for what? If you are going to study psychology or engineering or chemistry, German is more useful. If you are going into international relations, international business, or international law, French is definitely the way to go, since it is the official language of over 28 countries worldwide. If you're into philosophy, either will be fine. Religion, probably German if you want to read about the beginnings of Protestantism, but French if you're mission-oriented.

Personally, I found French easier. But it really depends on what you want to do with it. Check out some other reasons to study French on this Web site:

Definetly french. It's alot less harsh sounding language. Also German grammar is very difficult to understand. French grammar is spanish or polish if you happened to know about it.

Depends on what one uses the language for. German is more expressively precise and French more expressively beautiful.IMHO. Ce depends

Neither is inherently "better" but I personally found French MUCH easier to learn to speak (although harder to understand), and most people like the sound of it better anyway, so I'll vote French.
