We all know when we are hungry cos we get the feeling right? What I cant figure out is where is the line between hunger and craving. For example: Right now I am veery tempted to go pick up a slice of pizza and eat it (Although I know I should not). But I am confused wheather or not what I am feeling is the craveing or hunger? I would not eat an apple right now. I would not eat a carrot. I dont want any salads. But I am veery hungry for pizaa...

So am I hungry or not? If I am rejecting Apples and Vegetables right now and am feeling the urge to go eat some cheesy meaty bread, is it hunger or is it craving?

What you're feeling is a craving and not hunger.

Hunger is when you want food and you get that empty, grumbly feeling inside. Usually any kind of food will do even if you want something specific.

A craving is when you want something specific but don't necessarily feel hungry. These can also be indications that there is something missing from your diet. You're craving the pizza because maybe you've been cutting out a lot of fat recently and this is what your body is wanting right now.

Beware of cravings as they can spell disaster making you eat when you really shouldn't. You can give into them occasionally but when you do, don't eat the whole thing. If you want that slice of pizza, cut it in half and only eat the half and don't have any more for the rest of the day.

Learn to eat sensibly and that means reducing certain things but not eliminating them completely. If you do this you may find your cravings being reduced.

Most likely you are just having a craving but I dont like apples so I would never want to eat one whether I was hungry or not. Carbs are something that most people crave especially if you had pizza earlier in the day or some other high carb food. Try eating more protein and less carbs and try to stay away from the simple carbs like white flour, white bread, and white potatoes. The are high glycemic foods and they burn up really quick leaving you hungry very quickly after eating them. Opt for brown rice or wheat bread when available.

My cravings are sushi, pizza hut, mcdonald's fries, muffins, cookies, snickers bar, hot pockets... pretty much anything that can sell me within 5minutes & requires not much thinking about in purchasing it just for the taste.

You have a craving.
If you were really hungry - you would eat a carrot or salad or something that doesen't even have greese on it.

Its a craving. If you were truly hungry you would eat anything.

If you really were not hungry, then you wouldn't even eat the pizza. So I'd say a little of both.
