Or would the bride-to-be be offended if she knew the truth?

And yet, if you pawn it or sell it and then use the money to buy another ring, what's different? So you're just supposed to throw the ring back in the ocean?

pawn it for cash and buy a real one. it's more honest.

Personally, I think that I might be a little offended only because I think the effort that a man puts into the ring/proposal is so much more sentimental.
I think you should either take the diamond and have the setting re-designed to make it more personal for her, or just sell the ring and use the money to pick out something for your girlfriend.
I do really think with something like this... it's the sentimentality that makes everything so different.... I would definitely do something to make this more personal... rather then just finding it on a beach.
But what luck you have!! Make sure before you keep it or sell it... to have it appraised by a real jeweler.... and if you keep it... get that baby insured right away!! Good Luck!!

It depends. First I would see if I could find out if anybody has lost the ring(being honest). If not I would take it to the jewlery store and have it checked out. If it is the real thing, I would talk to the bride to be and see what she says. They make CZ so good now, you can't tell them apart, but I would tell her it is a CZ.
Their is an old saying "going to a pawn shop to buy a ring, your buying somebody's troubles." The pawn shops DON'T give you the cash worth, if any, for the item.
When I got married we barely had enough money for a cake. My ring was small but I was with the man I wanted, and still am 20yrs. He told me that if I would give him 5 years, he would buy me a ring I deserved. I laughed and said ok. He kept is word and I still wear the first one along with the one he promised. If a woman wants a BIG ring, unless you can afford one, you might want to rethink the whole thing!

I would probably sell it and use that money to buy a new ring because a girl wants to know you took the time to pick out a ring that's right for her, not just some ring you found on the beach.

First I would see if the wearer is trying to find it. Either put it in the "Found" in the classified ads or hand it over to the police.

If it is not claimed within a certain timeframe I believe the police will let you have it.

Then, instead of using the same ring, just use the diamond in it and find another band for it to be used in.

Hmm...I think you have to think about your bride-to-be. If you are asking her to marry you, you shouldn't have to ask complete strangers what would offend her. It really depends on the woman, so I think you need to really consider who she is, and what she finds sweet, romantic, and meaningful. Personally, chances are, if you feel you should ask, you 1) may not be quite ready to get married and 2) you probably think she'll be offended.

I think that it's quite a good answer that you should just sell that ring and use the money to buy a new one, one that you think is really meant for her.

I think she might be a little hurt because you did not take time to pick one out yourself.

Perhaps you can take the ring to the jewler and redesign it to show more of ya'lls personality. You could have him use the same stone and you can still have a part in having a ring special for her without much more cost.

Count it as a found Treasure just as you count her as a found Treasure .
Definitely give the original owner the chance to reclaim the lost ring .
It will be one less burden on your heart .
The fact that you have been saving it especially for her counts for something .
Only give it to her when you know that it is absolutely yours .
Best Wishes,,,,,,,,,,,,Do the right thing .

No it doesnt count the same as buying it. She WOULD be offended. First of all you MUST go to the police station and give them the ring. Then after 1 year if no one claims it then the police will give it back to you and you can keep it. Then if you had it appraised and then gave it to her it wouldnt be offensive.

no, it wouldnt...a bride doesnt care wether the diamond is big or small...but it does matter wether u found it or worked hard for money to buy the ring! it is the hard labour that is inserted into the ring that matters

If you were to sale or pawn it you probably wouldn't get much out of it. I'd say , Don't ask---Don't tell. If the person didn't know it would be OK. It wouldn't offend me anyway.
