For say 80 years I live the life of a model citizen, I'm a firefighter and save dozens of lives, I pay my taxes, treat my friends and family with love and respect, don't cheat anyone, don't steal and to the best of my ability I'm honest. Then one day I murder my wife, do I deserve to go free? I have done more good than bad. In fact I have saved more lives than I've taken.

DO I DESERVE TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER?

What you're talking abouty is called 'works.' The bible teachus us We cannot do a bunch of good deeds to "balance out" the bad.

It is said in the end you heart will be put on a scale [not literally figuratively people] the intentions and trueness of your heart will be weighed. It matters not what 'facade' you put on but what you truly felt in your heart.

for instance. You can give money to the poor but if you didn't really want to in your heart, God sees that, and it will actually count against you.

Hope my answer helps you.

If you live an exemplary life, all you've done is what is expected of you. So no you don't get away with it. That's rediculous. If that was the case, Doctors could murder every third patient and get off scott free.

If you lived as great a life as you described, I would love to have such a perfect person in mine! But murder is murder and that can not be forgiven in the court of law! If it were my mother, I would fight until you got the death penalty! Now in the case of self defense, you may fare a little better!

This is an odd question, but it does state very clearly "DO NOT" murder in the Old Testament and New Testament Bible. We all fall short of the Glory of God. We will all reap what we sow also. The only one who can decide this as will everything you do/say or not for Everyone is God on Judgment day.

If you like to quantify you sin this way. Then we will need to know how good and how bad your wife did in her life. Even if she did more bad things than you did. We need to know if she deserves to die this way. Therefore, you better do a real good calculation and discuss with your wife before your take any action.

Living the kind of life you describe probably means you have never learned to be sneaky enough to do it and get away with it. We need bright calculating people. You would probably deserve to get the electric chair for being so dull, mundane and uninspired.

No- your life should be taken and then you go to God where your dead wife and her blood testifiy against you. Then as a proven murderer you will be delivered into hell by the Holy Angels and await the lake of fire- your place of eternal torment. Sorry- it's Gods rule not mine.

No you do not deserve to get away with a crime just because you have lived a good life up until then.

of course not. there's a verse in jeremiah that says if a there's a good guy, does all the right things, than stops his exlempary life and starts doing wrong, people will forget all the good he does. but if a criminal heads down the right path, his former life will be forgotten.

I don't think that one can make the assumption that several rights correct a wrong. If I killed you and then mowed your lawn, placed flowers on your grave, and volunteered time at a nursing home, does that make you any less dead? Nope. So, the wrong is still just as wrong.
