Palm trees require a tropical or semi-tropical climate to survive. The climate in Tennessee is too cold in the winter for a palm tree (arecacae) to live.

As "Paris" suggested, if you have more questions, feel free to ask. What she can't answer, I possible can.

Are there natural palm trees growing in Tennessee, probably not.

However, there are many palm trees that can be grown there. Just because it gets cold does not mean that a palm cannot grow. There are many palms such as the Jelly Palm, Mediterranean Fan Palm, Chinese Fan Palm and Washington Palms that are very cold hardy, from the low teens to single digit temps!

There are even people that grow palms Canada...though utilize some protection in the winter time!

Let me beat Officer Peedlepup to the punch and suggest you post your question on the Tennessee board and not the Los Angeles board.

May I also suggest that if you are going to be writing about Tennessee, you start by spelling it correctly.
