Longest time you can wait: about an hour would be too long? A young kitten with a bad eye infection that closes the eye is a kitten that is already well on her way to going blind. It's essentially an emergency to get the eye open and draining.
If they're littermates, any germs that started the infection are probably already shared. Personally I wouldn't bother separating them, but some people would, just to be on the safe side. You can't know if it's infectious, but most likely the other kitten is already thoroughly exposed to whatever it is.

They definitely should be separated until the kitten gets treated by a vet. The sooner the better, I really wouldn't wait at all on this.
Kittens fall ill easily, and illness often hits them hard. A tiny eye infection could be signs of other diseases/illnesses.
Please get the kitten to the vet ASAP.

Hi
If you can't get to the vet, take a warm soft cloth and gently wipe the eyes to remove the gunk. Maybe get some eye drops, like polysporin, it is cheap, and use that, one drop in each eye.
You should keep the kittens seperate just in case it is infectious and you should really take it to a vet as eye problems can be a sign of bigger issues, like diseases!!!

If it were my cat, I would have been to the vet immediately. Would you like to go around with an infected eye? It hurts. Why did she have the infection in the first place. Give up going out to the movies, etc., and take the cat to the vet. Be a responsible pet owner.

Yes they should be seperated. It sounds like it may be an Upper Respiratory Infection that is very very contagious. You need to bring both cats to the vet and have them both examined seeing as how they were put in the same kennel. You need to bring them in ASAP, this is nothing to mess with and in if left untreated with the proper medication it can be fatal to a kitten. Good luck

You need to separate the babies and make a vet appointment for them. In the mean time, clean the kittens eye with a cotton ball and warm water. Don't get water in her nose, just her eye. Keep cleaning it until you get it all. Sometimes it helps to get it a little wet and wait a couple of minutes, then try to wipe it out.

Separate them and get the kitten to the vet asap. Just a little medication may help and you won't be so worried about infectious speading.

How about, its cruel not to take a kitten to the vet, and even worse to let they other get infected. You shouldnt put off taking them BOTH.

They both need to get to the vet asap b/c the infection could've very well spread to the other one already.

even if the eye appears to be healing, you should still take to vet. ASAP.....an untreated eye infections can cause long-term damage to her sight.....lack of drainage does not mean the infection is resolved
