I have a block of ham, I can slice, dice or cube it really. What are some of your favorite ways to cook ham?

Isn't there some recipe with green beans and potatoes or something like that?

This is my favorite recipe:

Take the ham and cut it into several large chunks. Place it into a large pot with several cans of green beans with liquid. Peel several potatoes and slice them into halfs or quarters (depending on how large they are). Cook on a low heat for several hours until the potatoes are done.

*** You can adjust the amount of potatoes and green beans depending on how many people you are feeding. Normally I use 2 cans of green beans and 4-6 potatoes.

Rueben Quesadillas

4 flour tortillas
Honey mustard
1 green apple
8 thin slices smoked ham
8 thin slices Swiss cheese
1-1/2 cups drained sauerkraut

Place the tortillas open on a work surface and spread half of each one with a layer of the mustard. Core the apple and slice it up to 1/8-inch slices. Place apple slices over the mustard. Followed by the remaining ingredients (2 slices of ham and cheese per sandwich).

Fold over the tortillas and place two at a time in a skillet, non-stick. Press down with a spatula, and cook over medium heat about 4 minutes per side, or enough to melt the cheese.

"I never seem to make enough of this salad. When people see the recipe they look at me as if I am a little odd... but when they eat it they cannot seem stop... This recipe is great for kids and adults alike. The garlic is optional. Also, to lighten up the salad, substitute light mayonnaise, light sour cream, and turkey ham."

Ingredients
8 ounces Ziti pasta
1 pound Cooked ham, cubed
1 Large red bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 Large green bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 Large red onion, coarsely chopped
15 Small sweet pickles, chopped, juice reserved
1 cup Cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup Mayonnaise
1/2 cup Sour cream
2 1/2 teaspoons Beef bouillon granules
1 tablespoon White vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Ground black pepper
2 cloves Garlic, minced

Preparation
DIRECTIONS:

1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.

2. In a large bowl, mix together the drained pasta, ham, peppers, onion, pickles and tomatoes.

3. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, beef bouillon granules, vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic and 1/2 cup of reserved pickle juice. Fold into the salad and toss gently until evenly coated. Chill overnight to allow the flavors to blend. Serve near room temperature.

If you are talking about REAL ham, and not a block of processed lunchmeat or Polish canned ham, I like to put it in the oven and roast it. I sometimes put a glaze of Kozciusko Beer Mustard about half way through the roasting process which adds a nice spark to it.

I also like to boil ham in a solution of water, chicken broth, beer, 2 small cloves garlic, dill weed and celery seed for about 2-2 1/2 hours. I like to throw in some green cabbage (cut into quarters) about 20 minutes before serving. In a separate pot, I'll boil up some nice redskin potatoes (peel left on, please!). DELISH!

Hope these tips help.

* 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
* 1 1/2 cups sour cream
* 1/2 cup cooked diced ham
* 1/4 to 1/3 cup chopped mild green chiles

I cook a big bag of medium elbow macaroni, dice a small boneless ham and a small box of velvetta, then add two cans of small green peas, two tablespoons of sweet pickle relish and about three heaping tablespoons of miracle whip. Stir it all together--makes a great cold salad served with Club crackers or Sociables. Very satisfying, but doesn't heat up the kitchen too much.
