Well according to the mormon, I look at my skin and know which side I was on.
According to other christian denominations, the war in heaven took place when the devil was actually an angel and was one of God's top angels (cherum, I think) satan wanted to be worshipped to and rebelled and took 1/3 of the host with him. This happend during the creation...Ezekiel 28:12-19...isaiah 14:12. Then satan ended up int he garden of eden. This war in heaven had nothing to do with God's children until the garden of eden.

The wars in heavens are not truth. The determination of
results is blessed accountable resplendor and shows the
demon, the fake, the thief, the sinner is a ghost. The realm
of fear, death, fascism, or shadow can hold war eternal or
demonically subscribed. The demons cast down to the hells,
or the dozens of fun hypnotic rituals for idiots are before, during,
and previous to time for they are not allowed on hallowed land.
Because I happened to be watching Baywatch, I was busy
rescuiing the drowning angels.

Obviously Sister, we were valiant enough to have this mortal life and this wonderful body. We were part of that 2/3 that fallowed the will of God the Father

That was a bit before my time, you understand, but I figure my ancestors must have been on the side of the angels, or else I wouldn't be here!

You know, I have often wondered if all of the human ever to exist were the ones who decided to follow satan when God kicked him out.

The innocent and the benevolent. We had to defend ourselves from heavenly battalions as well as demonic hordes.

In the premortal Spirit World Heavenly Father held a council in Heaven and presented His plan to us...whereby we would come to Earth and gain a body, learn to walk by faith, and have experiences here on Earth.
Jesus Christ volunteered to be the Savior..and to make an Atonement for us...so that we would be able to overcome all the sins which we surely would commit here on Earth.
Then Lucifer presented his plan...he wanted to force everyone to do what was right...and he wanted all the glory...(or in other word - in exchange he wanted all of Heavenly Father's power and glory)...
Heavenly Father chose Jesus Christ to be the Savior.
Then Lucifer and all those who followed Him (1/3 part of the spirits) rebelled and thus was the War in Heaven.
Those who rebelled were cast out of heaven and are denied the privilege of receiving a body.
Those who chose to follow Jesus Christ get to come to Earth and receive a body....so it is easy to tell...anyone who comes to Earth and receives a body chose to accept the plan of salvation in the premortal spirit world.
Moses 4
1 And I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.
2 But, behold, my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me—Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.
3 Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down;
4 And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.
