My computers sound is low, even with the maximum volume and maximum wave output. is there a program to make it louder?

EDIT: The problem isn't my speakers, as even if the speakers are maxed and so is the computer's sound output, the speakers aren't even close to distorting or breaking up. The problem is my computers limit on how loud I can make it. Plus headphones are quiet too.

It sounds to me like it might be your speakers, even though you say it isn't. I had the same problem you did and for a long time I believed it wasn't my speakers either.

I had cheapy IBM speakers that didn't play very loud. But when I bought different speakers (ones with an "amplified speaker system"), this was no longer an issue for me. With the new speakers, it gets extremely loud with the volume only put up to halfway!

I hope its not too late to answer this. I have this same problem and I fixed it. It may work for you too: With your headphones plugged in, click the sound icon on the menu bar at the bottom of your desktop. Click the icon of the headphones at the top of the window. Click the tab "enhancements". There should be a little box that has some options like "Bass Boost" and "Loudness Equalization". Click the words "Loudness Equalization", NOT the box, so that the text is highlighted. Then click the settings button in the section below. Drag the slider all the way to "Long" and hit OK. Hit apply at the bottom of the window, then OK. Test the sound again and see if its better.

Get better speakers. Excellent speakers usually require an additional AC adapter to give that sound an extra boost.
