I was raised to hate them because of what they did to Jesus. Now that I'm older, I believe they were part of Gods plan and had no choice in the matter.

Personally, I do not hate them, because they were fallible humans, just like myself. I do not, however, believe that they had no choice in the matter, because there is always free will. I believe that the sacrificial death of Jesus was God's plan born of His immense love for us and that Judas and Pilate were key players in the events that led up to the crucifixion. I believe that they were present because God knows our hearts and what direction that we will go in and that is why Judas and Pilate were where they were at the time that Jesus walked the earth. I never felt too harshly towards Pilate in any case, because he tried to free Jesus but decided to let the will of the people prevail. He then washed his hands of the matter.

Yes they had choice, just like every single person has a choice about what to do in any given situation. Judas was influenced by his own agenda, he wanted to force Jesus' hand to combat the Romans, since he thought Jesus would be setting up His kingdom on earth immediately. He didn't understand anything that Jesus had been teaching at all.

Pilate actually knew the Jewish leaders had turned Jesus over to him "out of envy". Interesting. However, when confronted with the accusation that if he let Jesus go, he would be "no friend of Ceasar", Pilate was afraid for his position of power and allowed Jesus to be crucified.

Of course all things work together for good; Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is our ransom. But these two men did have a hand in it, through their own decisions.

God's Word says that we are to love our enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who would abuse you. So, no, we are not to hate anyone. And, though they were indeed part of God's plan, every has a choice, always. However, under the conditions that God set up, they were extremely unlikely to make any other choice.

Pilate was certainly not converted; therefore, his salvation has not yet come into judgment. Judas, though he knew better, and had the holy spirit working with him, he did not yet have the holy spirit IN him. And since he showed signs of regret for his actions, his salvation may also be yet obtainable.

humorous element, that unfastened will. Pontious Pilate's spouse had a dream that he would desire to have no longer something to do with Jesus.....yet he did besides. At any time Judas would have walked away or truly listened to the words of Jesus. If he had "the plan" could nevertheless have been carried out yet they willingly did what they did. Judas' remorseful approximately brought about him to kill himself yet whilst he'd waited 3 days, Jesus could have forgiven him. Pontious Pilate's profession went down hill after this. yet he replaced into warned to have no longer something to do with Jesus.

The bible says in John 6:70 "Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve and one of you is a devil. He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that betray him being one of the twelve." Judas was set up fulfilling God's plan in the scriptures in the Psalms etc. to fulfill God's will to send his Son to Calvary. Acts 1:16 "Men and brethren, the scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas which was guide to them that took Jesus."

Pilate wanted to release Jesus but the Jews refused as they wanted away with Jesus as he exposed who they where exposed their sin and man kind don't like this.

Luke 23:13-16 "And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me as one that pevereth the people: and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things where of ye accuse him: No, nor yet Herod: for I send you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. I will therefore chastise him, and release him."

Luke 23:18 "And they (Jews, priests etc.) cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas." The Jews where fulfilling the scriptures by ordering Pilate to crucify Jesus. God's will was done.

Judas killed himself rather than repent and Jesus specifically said it was better that he was never born, so clearly we are to think unrighteous of his acts though judgment belongs to the Lord alone.

Pilate claimed innocence of Jesus death and acted only according to Roman law, but his friendship with Herod that was established during the Passion implies he was not a friend of the Jews so we are to consider his involvement undesirable but like Judas judgment is not for us to decide.

In conclusion, we should simply attribute their deeds as part of the Gospel of Jesus and not dwell on their convictions.

They did have a choice....God knew their hearts and used them according to his purpose.

You and I are as guilty as they and without God's grace would be suffering the same eternal fate.(Though Pilate, may have repented...Judas did not.

They made an educated choice....everyone has a choice. If they did not how would you serve God from love? We would be robots if we served Him by no choice.
