There are a bunch of differences.

Christian Science prefers to rely on "prayer, faith and spiritual healing" rather than drugs and surgery. They believe that Jesus was "the Wayshower", a proof by example of the divine method of healing sin, sickness and death. They aren't officially forbidden to accept drug treatment or undergo surgery, though most do in accordance with the Biblical interpretations and teachings of Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of the church.

Scientology does not teach any members to refuse medical treatment that would ensure their survival. The medicine Scientology opposes is psychotropic drugs (which includes drug treatment for conditions like ADHD, schizophrenia and autism, and pretty much excludes use of everything from aspirin and caffeine to LSD and heroin). They pretty much support only drugs that will save your life. There are no teaching which prohibit surgery or necessary treatments.

Both were founded by previously unremarkable individuals. Mary Eddy, mentioned above, was the youngest of 6 children. She developed Christian Science in 1869 after turning to the Bible, experiencing a sudden abatement of her symptoms, and coming to the conclusion that was an illusion that could be healed through a clearer perception of God. L. Ron Hubbard was a mediocre science fiction writer with an interest in the occult and in making money. He created a new self-help method (Dianetics), called it a religion and henceforth Scientology was born.

The scripture of Christian Science of obviously the Bible. They also, as mentioned previously, rely on the teachings and writing of Mary Eddy. The "scripture" in Scientology are the writings of Hubbard. What Hubbard has said and wrote is considered infallible and invaluable and NOT subject to interpretation.

Christian Scientists are generally like Christians besides the issues they have with modern medicine. They rely on the Bible, consider God and Jesus to be their personal saviors, go to church, pray, etc etc. Scientologists, on the other hand, are TOLD that believe in God is compatible with Scientology while the TRUTH is that Hubbard has stated that belief in Christ and God is an "implant", a false mental implant.

When it comes to ethics and morality, Scientology subscribes to Hubbard's interpretation of "ethics". Read more about it here:

Christian Scientists follows the commandments and teachings of the Bible just like Christians.

The differences in my opinion are Christian Science was foundered by Mary Baker Eddy and Scientology was foundered by L.Ron Hubbard.

Christian Scientists believe in God as and infinite Spiritual Being but that's not a difference becuase so do Scientology and many other Religions.

Christian Science teaches that we are Spiritual Beings and we can heal ourselves through Prayer.

Slightly different in Scientology many things can be healed, although if you've got a broken leg you'll need a doctor, or many of the other medical problems a person could have.

Where Scientology come into that area is why did the person get a broken leg or a bacteria. What was his attention stuck on as to put his leg in front of a car or catch a baseball with his head. That's what Scientology deals with, the why of condition, the cause of condition and by eliminating this the person becomes more able.

Scientology goes into a much broarder explaination of why things are. Like why are we here, why are some people more able, why are there different opinions and my other in more intriguing whys.

Scientologist are Spiritual Beings just as all of you are. Here is a exercise for you to try:

Think of a pet you had in the past, can you see movement, can you see colour or can you just get a shape. Ok, close your eyes and think about it again. Could you see it? What was producing that picture? Was it your brain, was it pictures you have recorded in the past or could you just see it?

So who was looking at it? The body, brain, eyes are there but you are there senior to that.

For some funny people who wish to disagree, who disagreed? Was it you ear, your eye, maybe your brain or maybe again it is just you seperate yet very attached to these bodily parts.

ZERO COOL below has managed to get a bit closer to the truth this time. Although she is still quoting what other people say instead of exactly what Scientology says. I do understand it is a bit difficult for her, seeing she has never felt the gains of Scientology or wanted anyone else to. But that said, she was closer to the mark this time.

cool down. Getting your knickers in a knot can no longer remedy this situation. with a view to do a suitable assessment you may could desire to do extensive examine and characteristic a solid expertise of the two religions. i'm a Scientologist and characteristic studied and utilized it for 35 years. I even have additionally researched and studied different religions yet no longer Christian technology especially. the only element i comprehend approximately Christian technology is that it somewhat is a "Christian" faith in accordance with some version of the NT. Scientology isn't a Christian faith. this is scriptures at the instant are not the hot testomony. this could could desire to be the main considerable difference. Scientology has this is roots contained in the Veda's or Vedic Hymns that have been the 1st recorded (written) expertise or "sacred lore" relationship decrease back 10,000 years from the East. (no longer the middle East which exchange into the genus of the NT) it somewhat is interesting to observe that the fundemental non secular concepts like "Love Thy Neighbour" "handle others as you would be dealt with" "refrain from using stress" look in the two. the instructions of Christ have been very akin to the eastern suggestions which got here from the Veda's and the Dharma and the instructions of Guatama Buddha. yet Scientology isn't a concept gadget, altho it somewhat is a faith. So this is ethical guidlines are very akin to all religions, yet you are able to no longer evaluate "ideals" considering the fact that one does no longer have that catagory to evaluate. i do no longer comprehend why they call it Christian "technology" The observe Scientology comes from 2 latin words: SCIO = expertise or understanding, and trademarks = the learn of. It actually ability the learn of understanding, or understanding the thank you to renowned. i in my view desire this is of a few help in finding out the confusion. I doubt which you will get an answer from a Christian Scientist who has studied or examine Scientology, yet i desire you do. possibly you ought to examine them the two your self to make certain how they evaluate, no count if it somewhat is that considerable to you.

Other than a slight similarity between their two names, I do not think there is really much comparison at all. Christian Science is based on a book called "Science and Health with Keys to the Sciptures" by a woman named Mary Baker Eddy, and I think it's primary focus is healing of the physical body, by the mind. MInd over matter, so to speak. They in fact deny that pain and evil and sickness actually really exist, and that these erroneous, illusory conditions can be banished mentally, by denying them. Scientology, a much younger religion, was formed by L. Ron Hubbard, initially based on his pop psychology best seller, "Dianetics". Itr deals with healing mental problems. I have not read it, so I can not really comment on the techniques it uses. Reincarnation is one of their basic beliefs, and they believe that all our problems are the result of kinks called "engrams" accumulated in past lives. A process called "auditing" is supposed to remove these and help one become a sort of super being called a "clear", as in clear of those engrams apparently. That is about all I can remember about the two groups at the moment. Hope that helps.

I am not a christian, so I am not really ideally placed to compare the two.

Christianity is a bit like traditional religions are. It is nearly 2000 years old and in the western countries with their hectic lives, it has already become a fringe phenomenon (at least in terms of spiritual impact). Osho Rajneesh for example, derided it as a "Sunday religion".

I happen to know Scientology for many years now and I can tell you frankly that it is the best thing that has happened to my life.

Scientology began with L Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics in 1949. It is the only book to have become a New York Times best-seller in 2 different decades-1950s and 1980s, in addition to being a perennial best-seller. This book is basically about Auditing, the fundamental Scientology technique for handling incidents of emotional and physical pain in a person’s past (technically called engrams). As L. Ron Hubbard audited more and more people, he noticed that as these incidents of physical and emotional pain in a person’s past are effectively handled and erased through auditing process, the person:
1. Becomes more intelligent
2. Becomes saner
3. Becomes better able to handle his environment.
4. The amnesia on time-track becomes to diminish, i.e., the person is able to recall earlier incidents in his life. The earliest incident you are able to recall in your life is, may be, 1.5-2 years. Few people are able to recall earlier. Yet, you were alive earlier!

As people were thus audited, they were able to recall their pre-natal life. This led LRH to hypothise that memory is a property of the cells, since in intra-uterine life brain is not fully formed.

As the process went ahead, people were eventually able to recall their past lives. That was the birth of Scientology, because it indicated that there must be something that survives death and carries on to next life. This something is called soul in traditional religion and theta body in Scientology.

Scientology brings to humanities the exactitude of science (as LRH put it). By actual demographic studies, it has become the fastest growing religion in the history of mankind. It has come a long way sine its early beginning. Today you can actually go to an advanced Scientology organization and walk on the “bridge” to freedom. The decision is yours. The choice is yours.

“I do not sing what I believe, I only give them fact.
If they believe quite otherwise, it still will have impact.
For truth is truth and if they then decide to live with lies,
It’s their choice not mine, my friend, they are free to fantasize.”
--- L. Ron Hubbard

“Get on the road to freedom,
Help us fee all mankind,
The pain and all the sorrow,
Are only in your mind.”
---L. Ron Hubbard

Good luck and best wishes!

Well as a Scientologist myself I know very little about Christian Science other than it's based on a version of the Bible (OT and NT I think).
I can tell you what Scientology is about, but you will have to get a Christian Scientist to tell you about their religion. Then you can figure out the diferences for yourself. Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. It is a very practical religion.
All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on anyones faiths of beliefs in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the indivdual as pasrt of his life. It does not conflict.
You can have no specific religious beliefs and still benefit from it.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is also not a messianic religion. This means there is no worship of messiahs in Scientology. There are no “beliefs” as such because a truth should be according to ones own observation and experience.
The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individual's understanding and awareness of himself. and lifeAnd thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.

How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit. The basic religious philosophy and knowledge of Scientology is very old, going back 10,000 years at least to the Veda or Vedic Hymns from the East. L. Ron Hubbard researched and made new discoveries about the human spirit. He developed technology from these discoveries to apply to increase spiritual awareness and ability.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable personal estate, when he died.

He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
There are currently over 10 million Scientologists in more than 163 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 53 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.

This is just an overview.
L. Ron Hubbard explained fully the theology and technologies of Scientology in more than 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 2,000 tape-recorded public lectures.
Hope this gives you an idea.

Christian Science is a religious teaching regarding the efficacy of spiritual healing according to the interpretation of the Bible by Mary Baker Eddy, in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (First published in 1875). Students of Christian Science are usually, though not always or necessarily, members of the Church of Christ, Scientist. Christian Science should not be confused with material or physical [[science], has no connection with Scientology, and is distinct from Christian fundamentalism.

For the controversial religious organization, see Church of Scientology

Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, circa 1970Scientology is a body of teachings and related techniques created by American science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard. Created in 1952 as an outgrowth of his earlier so called self-help system, Dianetics, Hubbard later characterized Scientology as an "applied religious philosophy" and the basis for a new religion.[1] "Scientology" is also used to refer to the often controversial Church of Scientology, the largest organization promoting the practice of Scientology, which is itself part of a network of affiliated organizations that claim ownership and sole authority to disseminate Dianetics and Scientology.[2] It is named a religion by some and a cult by others.

Scientology claims to offer "an exact methodology" to help humans achieve awareness of their spiritual existence across many lifetimes and, simultaneously, to become more effective in the physical world.[3] A goal of Scientology is to rehabilitate the "thetan" (roughly equivalent to the soul) to regain its native state of "total freedom." In addition to its promises of spiritual rehabilitation, Hubbard's "technology" offers specific programs for diverse areas including drug rehabilitation[4] and criminal rehabilitation.[5]

Scientologists allege that Hubbard's teachings have remedied a plethora of problems and enabled them to better realize their highest potential in business and in their personal lives. [6][7] However, reports and allegations have been made, by journalists, courts, and governmental bodies of several countries, that Scientology is an unscrupulous commercial enterprise that harasses its critics and brutally exploits its members.[8][9]

Although Scientologists are usually free to practice their beliefs, the organized church has often encountered opposition due to their strong-arm tactics against critics and members wishing to leave the organization. While a number of governments now view the Church as a religious organization entitled to the protections and tax relief that such status brings, others view it as a pseudoreligion, a cult, or a transnational corporation.[10][11][12][13] More recently, in 2007 the European Court of Human Rights held that the Church of Scientology is entitled to recognition in Russia as a religious organization and that Russia's refusal of such registration "had been a violation of Article 11 (freedom of assembly and association) of the European Convention on Human Rights read in the light of Article 9 (freedom of thought, conscience and religion)".[14]

Scientology social programs such as drug and criminal rehabilitation have likewise drawn both support and criticism
Hope this helps check out the web below for both subject and it will give you more details.

Not even close. Scientology is pure nonsense that has nothing to do with Christianity. Christian Science is a strict derivative of nonsensical Christianity. They share a few similarities, like eschewing medicine, but they're completely different doctrines.

Way too much to expound on here. Google it.
