Anything relating toward good on this site it seems people judge or say something to get your nerves twisted.
Today I asked a question if people could forgive the way Jesus did when he got nailed to the cross. I didn't think I was rude or crude or whatever ...but it got deleted. Whatever, I'll ask the question again. It seems this site is getting over loaded with Atheists or people just enjoy being cruel.
Whatever happened to being the peace maker and loving as an example?

I don't know what the person who posted that thought, but I'd imagine it's something along these lines.

Those who would cripple their children's minds by teaching them to abandon reason,

and who cripple their sense of morals by teaching that there are harmful rules that they must follow,

who cripple their consciences by teaching them that the only reason to do good and avoid hurting people is to avoid the wrath of a hate-filled all-powerful being,

and who terrify them by telling them that they will most likely burn forever, are actually harming their children.

Those who grow up with no respect for reason and evidence, no trust in their own minds and hearts, who expect the world to end at any moment, and are taught to fear they will burn forever, are intellectually and emotionally damaged.

They are fodder for any lunatic who would enslave them and lead them to harm themselves and others.

But I'm just guessing here.

I think I've been stuck in a loop within this category too long today.

I know what I said isn't the whole story, but it would be nice to see some believers in the All-Loving, Vengeful Egomaniacal Sky Bully cop to the down side -- that's very real.

There are people, who, out of fear of god, lock their kids in cages, or beat them to death.

I'm sure you don't Debra, and your kids are happy and healthy.

But they have been raised to put the words of bogus authority above reason and evidence, to distrust the powers of their own minds to comprehend the world.

Your faith endangers your children in one aspect only.

If you force your faith on them.

If you bring them up knowing that God is challenged by some. Then they have to make their own choices. if you want to be a very good parent, then present them, when they are old enough to make intelligent choices, 13-15, with some atheist books, and let them draw their own conclusions. However before said time, they should not be taken to Church for that is giving them one side of the story only. Unless you explain the other viewpoints to them afterword, without bias.

This will open their minds and make them either a Christian by their own choosing, or an Athiest also by their own choosing.

Normally its a great thing that you are a Christian but it really also depends what type of Christian.

For example if one of your childern happens to be gay, are you going to kick it out of the house like so many other "christians."

The Church has some really twisted and evil beliefs of hate and discrimination. Be careful what you believe

Let child protective service come. You can have cookies and milk for them, and your kids could show them what they've learned at home. They'll leave impressed, I'm sure.

Who was love incarnate and without Sin? Jesus was. What did the world do to him? They crucified him.

If they world would kill Christ himself, do not be troubled that it would also sling mild insults at you over the internet.

Imposing supernatural thinking of any kind on a developing mind is an impedance to logic and reason. This is unquestionable. Whether that makes you an unfit parent is debatable.

Hopefully your kids will be intelligent and brave enough to cast off the mantle of fear and guilt called Christianity.
