One thing I've found that fills in nicely until I meet my wife, is volunteering at local places like Salvation Army, animal shelters, nursing homes, schools, etc. I don't think any of the things you mentioned can really take the place of love even for one moment.

I've tried sex, alcohol, painkillers, weed, and whatever else I could think of but there's no substitutions for certain pains in this life particularly the emotional pains of love or even deaths of a family member or whatever else one can think of.

One of my salvadorean coworkers brought some in a couple years ago and it quickly became one of my favorite snacks. Now I visit all the local salvadorean restaurants in search of the best papusa, but I think the best are all made at home. I like them best with pork and beans. The cabbage salsa thing they serve with it is also great.

I had no love at home so I thought all the sex with my high school girlfriends was love.I learned later it was just my craving for love.I learned. I've been married 32 years.

Yes, once, a long time ago I tried to substitue religion and god beliefs for love. It didn't work.

Drugs can kill the pain and make you devoid of any emotion so it seems help.
The pain can be bittersweet, feeling the pain can also be like a drug.
I have done both, they are both sh*t!
