if you could prove 100% that god was real, i would be thrilled that he loved me, considering what he does to people he doesn't love : (

Well, if I knew 100% that God really loved me, then that would have to mean that I knew 100% that there was a God, and therefore I wouldn't be an atheist.
But if what you mean is if 100% proof was found that there was a God and He loved me then no, I wouldn't be upset. I would just change from being a non-believer to a believer.

'God' is the collective consciousness that yearns for something to worship. Science hasn't explained this yet, except as far as how culture in general keeps humans in groups for survival purposes.

So, no, it wouldn't upset me (although I'm not an atheist) if your version of God loves me. In fact, God probably loves me more than you, when you sit down and think about it . . . . .

And how would I KNOW 100% that some imaginary being loves me?

Probably I would be as upset as christians would be if they KNEW 100% that the invisible pink unicorn loved them.

Well, if you're atheist you wouldn't believe in God, so it would be irrelevant as to whether he loved you or not. And I highly doubt that it would upset anyone other than the religious that spend too much time worrying over the fact that atheists exist and that they can't push their religion on as many people as they'd like to.

I think that is what almost everyone thought as kids. Along with God, Santa, Tooth Fairy, Spiderman, everything.

But as we grew up, we rationalized and realized what is true and what isn't.

The answer to your question is, it was more upsetting to know that God does't exist, and even more upsetting if God exists and doesn't love me at all, let alone 100%.

That would be upsetting since I don't believe there is a god, therefore I would be losing my reason. Do you fully understand what an atheist is?

It wouldn't bother me if any imaginary figure loved me.
The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, or The Tooth Fairy.

However (just so you know) atheism means the abscence in belief in a supreme being(s).

So, aside from trying to force your belief onto others, what was the point of the question?

Would it upset you to know that god doesn't exist? If god did that would be a serious lie on your part cause god is so one sided, very self serving and demands unconditional love for it's self and does not give anyone true unconditional love but it's self.

That wouldn't be possible until you provided some proof that god exists. And then it would be pretty silly not to believe in him then. But if it's the god of the bible, I still don't think I'd worship him.
