I say real Christians only because you think this of yourself
and this does not apply to those Christians who are peaceful and respectful .... the real real ones

I have seen too many hateful posts tonight aimed at Atheists and non Christians , that I started to look at the answers to your questions
which had me thinking
that if there is a heaven , then it would not surprise me in the least that it is filled with a mix of Christians , atheists , agnostics , Buddhists etc etc
because I have seen so many outwith Christianity ( and also within )
who follow the words and teachings of Jesus more than " some " Christians

thoughts please
from Christian and non Christian

As one that follows Jesus we are to encourage one another to get closer to Jesus and God we are here to love one another in the name of Jesus but I do see even the churches shun people to that is one reason I don't believe in alot of things that churches and denominations do. It bothers me that the denominations can't even get along let alone bash nonbelievers we are suppose to love one another. And show that love to everyone this suppose to be are light shining.

Following the message of Christ, everyone who follows the message of doing good and helping others will go to heaven.

The Church of course does not like that because then there would be no need for the Church.

To those that say that you will go heaven because you know Jesus, i have to ask: do you really know Jesus.

My Jesus can be much different that yours.

I have met people while going to a Christian school that said they know Jesus and will go to heaven. Those people considere foreigners to be inferior.
Hate poeple for the middle east.
Blinded hate our fellow people that are gay.
A lot of them are pro-war
Pro-torture programs also.

All of these people are going to hell, even though they claim to know Jesus.

I have met Muslims that are good, but have not read the Bible. Just like almost no Christian has not read the Koran. Does anyone think that God will let people into heaven just because they are born in a christian family while everyone born in a Muslim family will go to Hell?

Thats Absurd. Jesus was not an Elitist, he did not start a private club. All good people will go to heaven all bad people to hell, no matter what their understanding of God is.

In all fairness, there are a ton of posts aimed at Christians by non-Christians and outright atheists. Many more hateful and unprovoked than the other way around.

I will also say, shame on Christians who attack others with meanness, name calling and the like. This was never the example Jesus left us.

Really, "real Christians" don't preach fire and brimstone.
The people who do are too legalistic, they're like Pharisees.
They're still Christians, but they aren't doing what's best.

The two most important commandments of God were to love God and to love people and scaring people or guilting them into being "good enough" isn't what God intended or wants.
But people are judgmental and Christians can be a little snotty towards sinners. That in itself is a sin, you see? Jesus' example was to sit with people who were hated: the tax collecters, whores, and Samaritans. And while He did do good deeds, He focused on loving people who were overlooked because of social status.

And following the teachings of Jesus doesn't make you a Christian, that's what makes Christianity different from all other faiths.
To become a Christian, you accept Jesus into your heart. You don't follow the Bible word for word and do good deeds. Because if you love God, the rest will follow. You'll do good things because you want to, not to get to heaven.

Are you asking a question, or making a statement? What are we supposed to give our thoughts on?

As to "fire and brimstone Christian" ("real" Christians as you say)... Jesus does not preach peace... He tells the scribes and pharisees in Matthew 23:33 "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?" When he saw men in the temple selling animals to make a profit for the sacrifices in Mathew 21:12, 13 this is what happened, "And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves." God hates sin, but loves each sinner, as we are all human and all sin... He sent his Son to pay for our sin so that we don't have to... but it is the act of sin that makes Him mad.

The Bible does tell us of One time when there will be peace. It is after this earth that is full of the sin that God hates is destroyed... Isaiah 65:17 "For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying....25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD."

So, what exactly were we supposed to comment on?

Heaven will be filled with those that believe in God. Jews that followed the Law before Jesus will enter in. Jews and Gentiles that follow God through the teachings of Jesus and believe in his supreme sacrifice.

Others, well that is up to God himself. I think it unlikely pagans, atheists, and Buddhists could make it as their beliefs fly in the face of God's teachings. But, again it is not my call.

Christians are to be peaceful and respectful, but that does not mean they change their beliefs and say your way is as good as ours or anything else like that. So, while I do not doubt you saw some "hateful and mean" answers, that does not mean they were. They are firm in their resolve and they call it like it is and do not back down. This is a mark of a real Christian.

What's a "real Christian" except someone who would never claim to be that? The world is full of good people who quietly in their own way live up to the goodness they have. Didn't Christ make it clear on the "sermon on the mount"? Don't we all know right from wrong in our heart of hearts? Live up to that and don't worry about the world to come!

All, who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. Those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven.... all others will be eternalu seperated from God.

God has no concern with any man invented"denomination" sect or cult... if you come to him as He prescribes He will accept you... the majority of mortals will never make it... it has nothing to do with any "good work" an individual might do in their life... No one may make up their own way to God... The Only Way is The Way God prescribes... And the only way any ever find The Way is if God shows them... many are shown... few follow The Way.

I am a Christian

And I agree with you a little bit, but only half-way.

You are right, real christians should not be preaching fire and brimstone, because that is not at all what Christ had intended. He came down in order to save everybody, even the lowest of the low. And the "fire and brimstone" christians also seem to forget that they are no better than anybody else, and have no right at all to be condemning people.

But your idea of people of all religions being in heaven is not quite square: See, Jesus did come down to save everybody no matter what it is they have done wrong, however in order to recieve that salvation you have to actually acknowledge the gift and accept it. (You can't open up a birthday present if you don't unwrap it first).

Everybody is free to come to heaven: that's what Jesus always intended. But if you choose to not accept Christ and go your own way, then he respects that choice.

Lol, I like how you make a difference between "real Christians" and "real real Christians".

I agree though. It's scary how many times I, as an atheist, have to remind a certain part of Christianity what the loving messages of Jesus were.
