I don't think there is an average. Some people are engaged for years and some for a month or two and every where in between.

There's no average. Be engaged for as long as you need to for the wedding planning. A year is a good amount of time, because it allows you enough time to plan the wedding without having an engagement that drags on. And just so you know, if you're engaged for a year or more and haven't planned anything for the wedding, you need to rethink whether you're really getting married.

many times a year to a year and a nil.5 in case you particularly need all that factor to devise the marriage and get the particular venues which you particularly pick. It would not must be that long. an extremely extreme-high quality wedding ceremony ceremony and reception could be planned in 3 months if that's what you pick. i might pick to have an engagement of three-6 months because of the fact a year is only way too long for me.

I would say the average engagement lasts about 1-2 years to get all the preparations out of the way for the wedding, because planning everything and making sure it all ges right is a pretty large daunting task :P

i was listening to the radio, and they were talking about this exact thing. they said that nature gives new couples a bond that keeps them together. they claim that this so called "buzz" is at the beginning of the relationship (which is why they have engagements in the first place). If you want to be safe, you must have a minimum of 1 year of engagement before the wedding.
i personally dont believe in it, but then again, i never had a gf at all.

12% Less than 6 months
40% 6 months to 1 year
39% 1 to 2 years
9% 2 years or more
I'm going to be in the 1 to 2 years category. I figure the more time I give myself to plan the less stressful it will be and I will have a better chance of getting locations I want.

One year would be about right. That's about how long it would take to plan an average size wedding. It would also be a good idea to do some pre-marital counseling (through your church or a private counselor). Good luck!

Depends on how long you have known each other and if you already live together. I recommend people living together before even deciding if they want to get married. I got engaged in December and was married in October. My husband and I had been living together for a year and a half when we got engaged. We would have been married earlier but neither of us wanted to get married in the extreme hot of the summer or cold of the winter. It worked out nice.

I think engagements should be one year or more.
Mainly in order for planning and reservation purposes.
