I think it comes down to the individual and the situation, how real they train, CQB on the street ,foreshore! theres a good chance they will come out on top but what might happen if you but them in the ring with a boxer or a gracie student, you might have a different out-come

Very few traditional martial arts were meant for competition, it is only the crop of modern hybrid systems that have turned into sports. ( and i don't mean challenge matches between schools/individuals)

Any martial art can be made brutal by the practitioner eg; look at Steven Seagals early films where he snapped necks, limbs, etc. yet Aikido (of which he is 7th Dan) is one of the gentlest arts.
Yet Muay Thai; considered a brutal art using elbows, knees etc has been "sportified" with gloves etc.

I can only speak for my style, Isshinryu, but Sunsu kata is a style of fighting I'd never use on people I didn't absolutely hate. I also agree that Muy Thai can be quite brutal, especially with no padding, but there are many styles that use pressure point fighting I consider to be quite brutal. Any style based on the Bubishi.

muy thai is very brutal. elbows and knees are far more dangerous than fists. many submission styles are also deadly. for example, although jiu jitsu may seem like a soft style, this is mainly because once the submission is achieved, the dominant player generally "releases" the hold. However, in a do-or-die street fight, the full execution of a submission technique could lead to death of the opponent (example: from a choke hold) or destruction of a major joint (shoulder joint from kimura, for example).

the answer given by D W is not one given with much if any martial arts knowledge.(no offense intended) your size body and body type have nothing to do with the martial art you wish to learn, i would suggest you find the best teacher in your area, style doesn't matter, its the teachers that matter. no style is best.

I won't say it's the MOST brutal, but Kung fu animal styles (tiger, mantis, dragon) use a lot of clawing and tearing, and ripping muscle from the bone.

well since you said not made for competition: anything military uses: muay boran(predecessor to muay thai), jeet kune do, krav maga, san soo, kombato, marine corps LINE combat system... just to name a few

these "styles" use "brutal" moves such as eye gouges, biting, head butts, ball kicking, anything to survive.

However these styles are criticized due to the fact that the moves are too dangers to practice on a partner so some wonder the actual efficiency of learning these techniques.

Jun fan Gung Fu (aka JKD) , Kali,Maphilindo or kunto Silat, Krav Maga.Any of these because they focus on all ranges of combat standing, clinch, grappling and weapons. Also they tend to be more about praticality than flash and fancy nonsense.

I think it would be Savate the french style. since one of its techniques is to break the hand instead of just block it. Since the Asia MA's are more spiritual the most brutal would probably be an European or American type.
