What? A few thousand have died, but I think the number who were captured is pretty small. It shouldn't be a problem to search for them.

Do you mean the search for the missing soldiers kidnapped in Iraq?
If so the military on search missions will also be checking out the area for insurgents, supplies, etc which has to be done anyway so the cost is negative to them doing there job anyway.
Or the missing soldiers of past wars, Ww1, Ww2, Korea, Vietnam etc,,etc,,
The teams used in these missions are small, and their annual budget reflects this.
But to most "normal" US citizens the cost of the search for the remains of missing soldiers is acceptable, and positive results can give closure to them, so they know finaly that the family member is found and given a good christian burial, (or service conducted by other denominations,).
But there will always be a very small percentage of begrudgers who even think this service is a waste of money and are only content about posting their pet-hate on websites with the hope that they can find others of such small-minded mentality to whine along with them.

Well since you repeatedly ask this question it looks like you will believe what you want and no one is going to change that. What is reported by the news to you is that there is a search ongoing. That "search" can be something as simple as asking a question to a detainee, analyzing intelligence, or being observant in any activity. So if you want the full truth every service member there is participating in the "search" and it's not costing you a single additional penny. You ask 'how long' and I'll answer with this. We still search for MIA's from Vietnam, Korea, WW2, WW1, so I would say many years.

Wow! you're relatively indignant approximately something! i'm undecided a thank you to respond to your question, different than to declare that if I have been a POW, i might pick to have faith human beings have been searching for me. some human beings have been recovered, like that Italian journalist. And only because of the fact we in many circumstances fail does no longer recommend we ought to constantly no longer try. the best thank you to place an end to the situation is for us to no longer be there to strengthen into POW's. you recognize, it relatively is not any longer a conflict the place after it relatively is over we are able to bypass to the detention center camps and get all our adult males back. there is not any unified stress, no longer to show prepared detention center camps like in Vietnam, so the sole way we are able to truly seem for persons is the way we are doing now, despite if it does supply the enemy a reason to proceed doing it. they're going to save doing it because of the fact they know that each and each human existence is invaluable to us. yet we ought to constantly no longer hunch to their point and only say, "Oh, nicely. He became right into a soldier and he knew what he became into getting into." Or worse, "He must be proud to have died interior the reason," like they say approximately their suicide bombers.
