Through many councils, it was established by men of God that Angels or Guardians Angels can not hear your thoughts. So to speak to one, you must to it in an audible way, just as you might talk to someone in the same room with you.
If you are asking for something, in Tobit (a book in the Catholic Bible), an angel takes the request of the man he is looking after and petitions it before the Lord. What a wonderful thought!
