they never give a proper answer, just a wishy-washy series of confused statements, none of which make sense.

also each answer is different, not in the sense that there is more than one answer, but more in the sense that each answer is made up to suit what that individual wants to believe.

aren't all religions and beliefs like this. isn't this the reason why there are so many different religions and belief systems in the world.

if god existed and the bible is fact then why are religious ideas and believe so disperate.

so ur sayimg that, not only is god not prove, or not provable, but belief is subjective as well.

isn't that just making faith, religion, belief, whatever you want to call it, even more vague and unreliable?

The bible as we know it was put together in the year 1611. It has had over 28,000 changes to it over the years and was written for capitalism for controlling people.
It helps the masses get through our hypo racy.

If Christianity was nothing but a set of sterile rules and regulations that required absolute fidelity in order to claim the Name of Christ, you might have a valid point there. If that was the case, you could easily look at a post and say, "Oops, that's not right according to the rules," or "Yes, that's how it's supposed to be." But since Christians are human beings and not robots, you're bound to get a wide variety of interpretations and explanations.

However, the same thing is true of any group of people united in a common cause. For example, if you put ten Republicans or Democrats (or Elks or Knights of Columbus, etc.) in the same room and asked them a question about their group's core beliefs, I'd be very surprised if you got ten identical answers. Most rules and belief systems are not worded in such a way that they are completely free from individual interpretation.

In the case of Christianity, God doesn't treat every believer in exactly the same way. He knows each one's personality, their needs and desires, and the way that they've learned to see the world. He knows that they are all individuals and that they have ideas and opinions of their own. He doesn't force anyone into a mold or turn them into mindless slaves.

Because Christians are unique individuals, that's the reason for the variation in answers. It's not being wishy-washy -- it's simply the result of being a person instead of an automaton.

Because people like you are always confusing religion with belief (aka faith).

Religion is simply dogma and means little, if anything, although it is the cause of more death and destruction than anything else.

Whether God exists or not, the Bible was written by men and doesn't even contain all Judaic/Christian holy scriptures - just those that have been approved by some other men. The Bible is also not the only collection of holy scriptures - each religion has it's own.

I happen to be a non-believer but, in it's defence, the Bible does actually answer your question. Have you never heard of the Tower of Babel?

i stuggle to answer the hard questions some people ask. I have on my view or knowledge on the subject not God's. I suppose you mean the harder questions like why is there cancer and the like. Christians have no more an answer than anyone. As a christian i can't answer any better than anyone else. But I can tell you what I do know. I love God and I believe he loves me too. Since I became a christian my life has changed beyond recognition, and I can't fully understand myself. I would love to be able to get an explanation, if not just for myself. But I can't get to grips with the mind of God. I can only put my human experiences on to him, and he's not human. I would love answers to why God continues to do miraculous things in my life when I clearly dont deserve them. I will know one day, when God reveals these things to me. But in the mean time i just relish the love and grace God continues to show me, and enjoy a peace that i have never known before. I don't know how this computor works but I'm glad it does, it's a gateway to the world. I don't know how God works, I'm glad he does, he's a gateway to eternity!

Michelle
I think you are very bright. And right.
All of the religions are just as you say. Beliefs. Its around if god existed etc. None are proven. So the individuals give wishy washy answers as your questions threaten to tear their beliefs apart. Then who would they be?
Bright, right and very wise, you are.

i think youll find christians agree on the fundametals of their religion, however the majority are not scholars of religion and so cannot answer every question correctly.
this is just a question of the knowledge of average christians. students of the bible, clergy and church organisations have more indept knowledge of these matters.
if i asked average vw drivers about how their engine works id probably get a "wishy washy" answer where as a trained mechanic would have a better explanation.
because someone doesnt know how to answer your question correctly doesnt meant god doestnt exist. to equate the two would be idiocy.

People are only human and we get things wrong, but it wouldn't be a good idea to reject the truth on the basis that many people see it differently. Truth is the truth even if nobody believes it. Sorry, is that wishy-washy?!

The questions you ask are subjective and so the answers will be subjective. That is the nature of philosophical questions.

Religion is just like politics- everyone adds their own spin and if they do not agree with any of the factions they form their own.

Your question can apply to many things. We all speak, why are there so many languages. We all eat, why are there so many cuisines?

If you were a true theological student you would find the religions do not differ that much. It is all about helping others and not being self-serving. You do that and everything else falls into place. It is just man that has twisted it.

If God exists then He must be of a nature so far above human understanding that there must a variety in beliefs and religions. No one can say and prove with any certainty that it is this or that.

If God exists and he reveals something of himself in the Bible, then each of us has a responsibility to ourselves read and honestly try to get a better picture of what God is like and what he expects of us.

There will be differences just as there are in science and every other aspect of life.

It is not vague, it get clearer with study, but we can never come to full comprehension just as we can't about science.
There will always be more to learn.

It's when we become dogmatic about things that's when we sound like fools.

i see a lot of 'never' and 'none' in your 'question'...is it some sort of atheist rule that questions need to include overly broad generalizations?

here's the deal with ANYONE'S q&a...the asker controls the content of the question...if you don't like the answers you get, it's just something you have to deal with it-if you want to pick the question AND the 'proper' answer, save yourself and the rest of Y/A some time and trouble-just sit there and talk to yourself...

each answer you get IS likely to be different from the others-no two people's thinking, experiences, and viewpoint are going to be exactly alike-even Christians...if that messes up some preconceived notion of a bunch of brainwashed pod-people all reciting their mantra, that's another thing for you to learn to deal with...and, finally, if the answers you get don't seem to make sense to you, maybe it's not the answers-maybe, just maybe, it's you...

In the case of J.W's, not true.
All answers to Bible questions are backed by scripture, and not just personal opinion..
And when bible verses are compared, most times the only difference is in some of the words, but the meaning remains the same.
Example; NEW WORLD TRANSLATION; (Psalm 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

1611 KING JAMES ; 083:018 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

modern Bibles have wrongfully removed Almighty god's NAME...JEHOVAH... and replaced it with the title LORD.
which is very impersonal. Especially since Jesus said we must make His NAME...MANIFEST...
not His TITLE.
