I have felt an overwhelming need to do or say something that comes out of nowhere. It used to happen often. Sometimes I did not respond and later learned that someone else has done exactly what this overwhelming urge was telling me to do. This is how God speaks to us. Not audibly
Now, if someone says he actually carried on a verbal conversation, just smile and walk away. God stopped speaking directly after He sent Jesus and His Holy Spirit. He said He would. He speaks to us and we speak to him through Jesus and The Holy Spirit.

WELL if you don't believe in GOD, what are you doing in church, pay more attention to who is talking to you and you'll find it's either God or the devil.......who's leading and directing you.

50 years ago people thought going into outer space was a fantasy too, and in the 60's talking through a hand held box, or talking to people and seeing them on a screen was stuff of make believe......don't think it's not true , you could be proved a fool just any day now.

Because you are going to churches overwhelmed by "enthusiasm," the false teaching that man somehow experiences God apart from His Word and Sacraments. Go find a Bible-believing church that finds God where He has located Himself - in the enscripturated Word and the Sacraments (e.g., Holy Baptism, the Lord's Supper).

I speak to God every time I pray, that is my way of communicating with God, but He doesn't always answer. Sometimes He does though, not verbally, but more like the feeling you get when your 'conscience" speaks to you.
God also touches our lives, by the way He interacts with Us.

Some of them are lying; trying to make themselves feel good.

But the majority of them have been touched and/or spoken to by God.

I'm sure they don't mean they literally heard verbal words coming out of the sky or anything.

What they most likely mean is that God has helped them through something major.

And although you probably hate to hear this....

I've been touched by God too. :-)

There are 3 types of people.
The nutters, who are fanatical about religion.
Those who have faith, and are normal good people.
Those who could not care less about religion, ME!

Because it can and does happen. God inhabits the praises of his people and we can feel his presence.
