I just would ask you think about this, and then you can mock away. But just take 1 minute to think this over. How many miracles been performed in the name of atheism? How many tears been wiped away with atheism. How many broken hearts been comforted with atheism? In your moment of weakness or death will you cry out to atheism?
Just think about it my friends.
I love you.

Good point!

I think I know why teens get so depressed these days. It's because in schools and culture all around them, they are taught that there is no God, no one they can trust, no one who loves them unconditionally, and when it's over, it's over. They're taught that they are nothing more than a "monkey with modifications", and why should feelings matter? It's just a bunch of chemicals and impulses in the brain, after all.

Gee, if I believed all that, I would be depressed, too.

How many diseases was cured by a placebo?

And what about miracles? There are no miracles preformed until this day in the name of the Christian God my Christian friend. An event that gives opportunity to one individual or a group of individuals doesn't constitute a miracle. If you think stigmata and faith healing is a miracle then you have a very low perspective of what a miracle is. A miracle (if there are such thing...) must involve every individual in this planet, regardless or race, location and belief system.

If you want a miracle...Now here is a better example. If being healthy becomes contagious now that's a miracle. If everyone became healthy in a blink of an eye, that's a miracle. Small time magic tricks are not miracles.

Now you don't need to believe in a god in order to make someone happy. Making someone happy without the aid of a church, a dogma or a belief is much more "real" compare to compassion done in order to please someones deity.

To give compassion and comfort doesn't require belief in God. You can always wipe someones tears and listen to his/her anguish without the need of giving him/her a lousy preaching in the name of God.

In the time of death, it is better to face it as what it is than to fool oneself on believing that there is still an after-life. Facing death by deceiving one self is not a solution to fight death.

I think you are missing the point about atheism...

You are thinking of it as a religion, when it is actually a lack of belief in god.

Miracles, none... that is specifically a religious term for magic.

As for broken hearts, there are many ways to comfort yourself and belief in god is one of many.

As for the death thing, well... I have never tried dying before, but why would I cry out - I don't believe in god before I am about to die?

Perhaps I will be comforted by the fact I tried my best, I was (on the whole) a nice person, and I lived a full and interesting life and hopefully helped some folk along the way. You don't need to believe in god to do that.

In a moment of weakness or death people who do not believe in God do not cry out to God.

Why is that so hard to comprehend?

As far as miracles, tears wiped away and broken hearts comforted, I think Atheists are as capable of those things as anyone :)

No miracles have ever been performed. Period. Deal with it.

Atheism is a non-belief in gods, not some maudlin, emotional comfort mechanism you can use on people.

If you are incapable of relating to your fellow human beings with empathy, sympathy, kindness and compassion without a belief in a god, than you are indeed a truly weak person.

I find strength in myself and the people around me who I love and care for, and vice-versa, and I've faced death more than once without needing or "crying" out to an invisible sky fairy for help.

Your minute is up. Now for the mocking....

Keep the love. You sound truly pathetic.

Tears are wiped away everytime they love their children and kiss their hurts.

Broken hearts have been comforted everytime they are their for their broken hearted friend.

Since I'm not an Atheist I can't say who they cry out to and I don't know how they see "miracles". If there have ever been any miracles.

I have thought about it. I have thought of miracles and know them to be the undiscovered truths of nature. I have thought of sorrow and know it to be comforted by that which comforts each individual, whether it be an existence with or without divine beings. I have thought of heart break and know it to be like sorrow - comforted by that which we find comforting. I have thought of my moment of death and, on the off chance I am able to recognize it for what it is, know it to be a time when I will call out to those closest to me, family and friends, not a diety that may or may not exist. I will not make myself a hypocrite in a last ditch effort to rescue myself from a possible future of fiery torment. I will stand true to what I find real and honest.

Just because someone is an Atheist doesn't mean they don't have compassion towards others. Miracles are performed on their own, not by people. Miraculous things happen to people. Pointless question from someone who should be promoting love.

**Edit* A "miracle" does not have to involve "magic".

Atheism isn't about any of those things it is merely a non-belief in god.

How many tears have been wiped away by atheist fathers? How many tears have been caused by priests?

Why are you so weak you need comfort in fairy tales?

sad that you will be mocked for this however the bible warned us that we would suffer for the lord and we all need to lift up our cross now more than ever. nice sentiments in your question and done with charity in mind. keep strong in the lord and god bless you. atheist doctors and scientists have done many good things for man kind, although not in the name of the lord sadly they don't see the importance of the lord who gave them these abilities.
