I am a cardiovascular patient, still alive 10yrs after my first "you probably won't survive another year". It has been just over a year since my last stroke. Every day is another chance to die, but it is just a fact of life for me. I am just curious how many answerers are being honest with themselves.

Almost anybody with any years behind them has pondered their mortality, and it's been my experience that most will audaciously claim that they are NOT afraid of death (particularly from 'quasi-brave' adolescents).

So then, everyone IS going to die,... and it IS a fact.
Given that, what is there to fear?

I feel the answer to that lies not so much in death itself, but more in how one will go about dying?

Many will say that they "Don't fear The Reaper"...
...and, who knows, --- maybe they don't.

But deep down inside the hollow of everyone's soul, whether admitted or not, is the fear of His 'Scythe'... for no one knows whether or not it will be sharp or dull when Death decides to swing it at them...

Actually, I can honestly say that I am not afraid to die.
Over the years I have been in two situations in which the doctors thought that I might have a terminal disease. Once they had trouble determining if I had either Leukemia, or Mono. It took over a week for them to finally decide that I had Mono. The most recent time was only about 3 years ago. There was a good chance that I might have Lymphoma, but it turned out to be Sarcoidosis. Though this is also a potentially fatal disease, I am not overly concerned one way or the other.

No, I'm not.
I know A LOT of people who are though. I haven't always felt this way, but the more I grow spiritually, the less afraid I become, of most everything. I find myself feeling like I am biding my time a lot. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy life! (mostly!) But as I sit outside and listen to the wind, or smell the rain, it's almost as if my spirit knows that the beauty I experience here, will be never ending in the afterlife, and how awesome that will be!!
This life is like the equivalent of a night in a motel, on a never ending journey in the grand scheme of things, and it is only temporary, and there will be much better things to come. The only thing I fear about death, is that I wont be here for my loved ones.

Nope, it is inevitable. But at the same time, live life. Enjoy your time here because you only get one chance to make a name for yourself. Make it count, do what you want, don't wait til later, just do it. If you feel that you're living life to the fullest then death shouldn't be feared, it should be welcomed. I don't think you should commit suicide, that's selfish. Do what you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, be free, scare yourself once a day(to be truly living), say "hi" to a stranger. But most important, don't expect people to pick you up when you feel down. That's where discipline and self awareness come into play. If you live happily and look on the brighter side, then all good things will come your way.

No, I am not afraid of being dead I just hope the process of getting there is not too unpleasant. I know what death is like, we all do. Remember what it was like before you were born? That is what it will be like after you are dead. The world will continue without you. The afterlife was created to counter the fear of death but no rational person should fear death, it happens to all of us.

No! I look forward with excitement to it. My body will drop and my spirit will rise to be with the Lord forever! I will be in a place where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more death for all those things will have passed away. I will be in a place of perfect love, peace and harmony and finally will be able to see the face of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

As He resurrected and ascended into Heaven so will I. I will be in the company of all those who went before me who died in Christ, and in the presence of the Holy Angels. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things the Lord has prepared for those who love Him."

NO!!!! I eagerly await Jesus welcoming me to my true spiritual home in heaven. I weep with joyous anticipation for the day when I hear those words " Well Done, my good and faithful servant".

Heaven will be so joyous I almost shudder thinking about it. Heaven will like a constant full body orgasm except not sexual.

No, death is just the other side of the coin. Ancient cultures prepare for death at a very young age. the tibetan book of the dead is one example.

No I do not fear dying. I did when I was younger, but with age came wisdom and then the fear slipped away.
I know who and what awaits me when I go and I'm in no hurry to get there but when my time comes I will be going with no fear, as I have nothing to lose but something i never owned.
