I find it very interesting that the two politicians that scold the rest of us the most about our failure to do as much to stop Global Warming as they think we should be doing are the Democrats Al Gore and John Edwards.

Both John Edwards and Al Gore live in enormous, over 20,000 square foot hard to heat mansions that use at least 10 times as much energy per month than the average family of 4.

By comparison, I live in a 900 square foot house that uses less than one twentieth the amount of the energy than either John Edwards or Al Gore's monstrous mansions.

I even have a wood stove that uses a renewable resource, wood not fossil fuel for most of my heat! I rarely even use fossil fuel for heat. most of my heating is with wood.

Yet I am supposed to be the horrible bad guy for not doing enough to cut back my use of fossil fuels even though I do not heat my house any warmer than 65 degrees in the winter and I do not even have air conditioning...

And Al Gore and John Edwards are supposed to be the heroes that are going to save us from excessive use of fossil fuels, and planet earth from Global Warming.

Also John Edwards and Al Gore fly private jets that use approximately 1,000 times more fossil fuel per mile than the most wasteful SUV.

What is wrong with this picture?

I think there is evdence the planet is warming. I also think we cannot afford to take the chance that it is not true, becasue if it is true we are about to be in deep pucky. Everyone, individually,in the world, should seek and use the alternative energy sources. Since we in the US are the leading poluters (*right now) we shuld lead the way. (By the way I am a Republican and a Bush fan)
We the people need to take the action. The ball is in our court. I have been studying Energy. The demand for Electric Power is expected to increase by 59% over the next 25 years. CHINA is now building, on average,a new coal fired electric power plant every week. (*look for China to be the leader in polution soon) So what are the options, for YOU and I, to help the situation? (*maybe I'll post this question*, but I am going to offer a few answers too) AMERICA, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE OIL BARREL and "Start thinking outside the DRUM!" lol There is a dedicated company called, CitizenRe Corporation, that is offering home owners a chance to have SOLAR ELECTRICITY, without having to invest in any equipment, installation or maintence cost. Just make a deposit (like for any electric company) and pay YOUR last years AVERAGE electirc bill, as the rent. You can see a video on this at http://www.jointhesolution.com/ltsfl complete with savings estimates, aand a place to reserve your system
or:
http://www.powur.com/ltsfl
will tell you all aobut the program.
Also, "in the news" Standard Oil Company has just opened up an "hydrogen power filling station" in Florida for people with cars using hydrogen instead of gas. The news said the "prognosis" for the price is that it will SOON compare with $3.50 a gallon gas, BUT, RIGHT NOW it compairs to $7.50 a gallon gas.
BUT, THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS, "I, AN 82 YEAR OLD WWII VETRAN AND A STAUNCH REPUBLICAN, THINK WE MUST TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. Our world will be a better place is we do, and a worse place if we don't. AND LET'S JUST DO IT AND NOT MAKE A POLITICAL THING OF IT. WE should NOT look to the government to make the decisions. There are great sources of infornmation available. Get all the informaiton you can. Then make the best decision you can, based on the information, the time place and resources available, AND DON'T LOOK BACK! Everybody has 20/20 hindsight.

I'm afraid that we the people are letting the foxes into the henhouse. I don't trust EITHER party to do the right thing to "solve" this problem. I do expect that this will be the most expensive "bandaid" ever devised by the government.

Take for instance recent actions by Vermont and other states legislating the levels of carbon emissions in automobiles. Anyone who knows a little about engine efficiency knows that this is directly proportional to gas mileage. You cannot decrease the carbon emissions without a proportional decrease in fuel consumption. But let's say that states should have the right to regulate fuel mileage in their cars - the way they are going about enforcing the regulation is by penalizing the automakers. This can only make sense to a bureaucrat...

As far as I know, EVERY major auto manufacturer builds multiple fuel efficient models. Well, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. I know that I've bought many cars and NOT ONCE has a dealer steered me towards a truck or SUV. If Vermont TRULY wanted to decrease carbon emissions then they would be doing it at the consumer level. But how do you tell the general public that they will have "sacrifices" forced upon them and STILL have them vote to keep you in office?

Short answer: you don't. Penalize the manufacturers and dealers, let them break the news to you that their new trucks and SUVs are underpowered or simply no longer available, and do nothing directly to decrease fuel consumption. And when election time comes around, remind the populace that you enacted legislation to "stop" global warming, even if no material decrease in carbon emissions occur.

And let's not even get into the shell game of carbon credits. Commodities brokers will make a KILLING when /if we start trading those in the US. The rich get richer...

We are just going through a climate cycle. The earth is millions of years old so when your talking about 50 or 100 years your not talking about a very long time. We don't have records going back far enough ro really be able to tell. At one time Nebraska was covered with water so that would say that sometime in the earths history we went thru a warming trend also. We will go thru a cold spell probably not in my lifetime.

I believe in it. Ok, so I believe in the scam with Democrats too, but it's just them being oppurtunistic. I think Global Warming is true and WILL be a big problem.

And if you don't like the democrats and believe in global warming, stop pressuring the government and do something yourself! There it is: less taxes and a good planet.

P.S. Yeah a lot of the democrats are hypocrites, but that doesn't mean it's not real!

It's not what it has been made out to be.
The saddest part is that so many people have been so strongly indoctrinated into this false ideology that it is unlikely to convince anyone of the truth.

Here's one part of the truth...
About 300 years ago, the earth was much warmer than it is now. This is not based on scientific measurements or recorded data from that time period.
The source of this information is common sense.
I have a book written by an ancestor of mine during the 1800's about the origins of the Dutch settlements in Flatbush, NY. There is a section about the farms and produce which has data in it that lists actual sources like deeds, wills, receipts stored in city archives, etc.
The part that makes light of what I call "Climate Correction" is that the majority of farmers were growing citrus. Peaches and oranges were the main produce.
To my understanding, this would be impossible now as the climate in the NY region is far too cold in winter.

"Global Warming" is a scare tactic from the dems and just one more thing that they can dip into your pocket for.

If you think this is an issue created or propogated by Democrats to win votes you are grossly misinformed. This is a GLOBAL issue, and I really don't think the whole world is consipiring to further democratic politics here in America. Read the global studies done by impartial scientists. Global warming is REAL, it's impossible to deny that with any education on the matter. Whether it is a man made or natural cause is still under some debate, but it is very clear that even if we didn't initiate the cause, we are excacerbating it.

As for politicians latching on to this issue... GOOD. As long as they do something about it instead of just using it to just get votes. As for democrats using this, well... enviornment is one of the main issues that democrats have shown to care about (in general) more than republicans, so of course they're paying attention to it. BUT, what about Schwarzenegger? He's very concerned with the enviornment and global warming and is leading California to be green. In fact, California is the best state in the US in the way of emissions... and he is helping us with this... a REPUBLICAN!

I really think that you need to educate yourself a bit better before making these kinds of accusations.

If you desire to obtain furnish cash for local weather study, do you believe that you can get a cheque when you say," I want the furnish, as I believe that I can end up that the figures that the present paradigm is situated upon are unsuitable" ? The first-class environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. There continues to be no validated causative hyperlink among the quantity of Co2 within the surroundings, and an develop in international temperatures. The WWWF graphics of the polar bears swimming have been taken within the Arctic summer season; while the ice cap in part melts, as they could not rise up to image within the iciness. The ice was once too thick! The East-Anglian uni study figures. "Oh! The figures do not fit our expectancies. Oh good. Keep quiet. Because we all know that we're proper." When the notion, and the religion is extra major than squarely dealing with the authentic doubts of plenty of non furnish-supported scientists, technology has been superceded through devout zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully stated." I pray thee, within the bowels of Christ, take into account that thou mayest be unsuitable."

I think if we humans were around back when the Dinosaurs were around we'd probably think that we caused their demise. We just love to think that we're soooo important. We should care for the environment, cut down pollution, cut down waste and deforestation. But I'm not gonna buy that we're heating up the earth, which has been around for millions of years and has had ice ages which have frozen the earth only to heat up enough to melt those massive glaciers. But hey if you're Godless and you need a new God to worship, Global warming is where it's at!!!

#1 every issue is "just a scam to get votes", it doesn't really matter what party you are referring to, nor does it matter if the issue is authentic or not.

#2 since "global warming" is a catch-all for any act that is environmentally unfriendly, i would say it is real enough, no matter if the planet was warming or not.

#3 take a good look at the other side, opposing global warming. what is it?? pollute more, because corporations make more money doing the exact opposite of what we should have been doing all along??
we should have always been recycling waste to make fuels and other useful products, regardless of whether or not global warming is real.
