Perhaps only men wrote the books of the Bible, but if you read the Bible itself, God's plan of salvation simply could not have been realized without the action of women within it.
In fact in the book of Judith, the Israelites were being besieged by the enemy and were losing hope, then the heroine of the story slips out and under the pretext of wanting to sleep with the chief general, cuts his head off in the middle of the night, causing the enemy to scatter in terror (when they go into his tent and see what has happened with Judith gone when they get there). As a result, that woman has single-handedly saved the Israelites.
