why do people feel that waitresses especially good ones do not deserve to be tipped? it is very hard work , hard on the back feet and mind, we have to deal with idiots and clean up after a bunch of kids, adults who think waitresses are dumb and beneath them. or why do you think you are doing a favor by saying keep the change and its 12 cents? expalin why you dont feel waitresses should get a tip?

Just a comment on your, "keep the tip" when its only like .10 cents. I've been there too honey. Just keep your head high and ignore those bast ards, it's not worth your time and effort to get angry over them. Just smile and say have a nice day and forget about it. Us servers live for our regular customers who tip well and make our job a lot easier to make up for people like how you described.

:)

I've waitress for many years and when a good waitress gets a tip,it is a bonus.Customers do not have to tip.If you think they do ,you are in the wrong profession.Myself I usually leave 0-50%tip.I don't always tip some waitresses don't deserve one.
You think waitresses deserve to be tipped I don't care if you make $1.00 /hr not all waitresses are good. And I don't care if you had a bad day that's your problem .not the customers.I own a restaurant for 10 years I seen good and bad waitresses.I'm in Canada so no $2.15 is not common knowledge. If you waitressed for 20 years you should know why people don't tip,

I feel waitress should get tipped according to the job they do. If they suck then from me their tip sucks. However if they do a good job I tip the hell out of em and if they do a great job then they get all my money heehee. So needless to say I don't eat out much anymore LOL I have 4 beautiful children and I can't afford to tip the folks that work so hard for their money

I once had a guy in a party of 6 hand me a 100$ bill and i said excuse me sir thats not quite enough LOL. no tip was left on the table and i went to ask if the service was bad heehee they coughed up a 10 sheesh

I always tip 20% for good service, 15% for okay service, and less down to nothing if it's worse service. My husband does 5% less than I do across the board.

However, the one thing that will shrink a tip from either of us right NOW is if the server is also our cashier and asks if we want change. IF we had excellent service, that server will be lucky to see 5% after saying that.

I do agree that people don't seem to "get" the whole tipping thing. They don't seem to realize that you usually get taxed on X amount of tips whether you make that much in tips or not. I hate that tips are taxed as income. I totally disagree with the pratice!

Some people are just cheapskates and have idea how hard being a waiter or waitress is. I always tip the server, even for counter service, and I generally tip more than 15%. If I'm with someone who leaves what I consider a "cheap" tip, I'll add more to it.

I was working as a waitress too. I know its a hard job but well we get paid dont we? I sure love it to get a good tip cause who dont like money?! But u know, u say u have to clean and so on. There r other jobs where people have to clean or deal with idiots and they wont get any tip either.

When i go out i do give a normal tip. If someone is nice or i like her then she gets more. If i feel that she is a ***** she wont get none.

I think giving tip is a nice gesture. I dont think anybody should feel like they HAVE to give something.

I always tip at least 15%. I was a waitress once upon a time. I can relate.

Well, I actually think its generous to tip the waitress or waiter because its hard work. I've never been a waiter but I can tell its hard and I see its hard work by putting myself in their shoes.

Dang !!!I ALWAYS leave $5 at the very least no matter how small my bill was. I usually leave 20% or $5.00 whichever is larger..and I am kind of on the poor side (week to week budgets)
WOW what kind of social retard does not tip? I am sorry that people do you that way...

Some people are just plain cheap.

I tip for good service and a pleasant manner.

.12 cents huh, I would give back to the customer and tell him/her they obviously need it more than me. That is beyond cheap, just plain stupid behaviour.
