Or are these questions what gives this place a certain panache? A certain eclectic flavor? Where bon vivants can rub elbows with more elementary personalities and a melting pot can be stirred where a rainbow of results ensues? Where the heck IS Professor Irwin Corey when we need him?

Yes.
Nonsensical questions should be deleted.

"Questions" intended to insult or offend should be deleted, especially in the "Society & Culture" and "Religion & Spirituality" categories.

People should be free to ask any honest question, but not intentionally insult.

The question isn't dumb if the person asking really wants to know.

And yes, I really like where you went with this question. Panache is good. So is eclectic. Like my Early Salvation Army furniture.

I think Irwin is in Hawaii at the present. He doesn't seem to be concerned with global warming.

In order for that to happen, one would have to seek out a completely unbias moderator with no personal religious convictions (assuming you're referring to questions posted in the 'religion and spirituality' section). And furthermore, a question you (or anyone else) deems "dumb" may be really important to someone else.

No, I don't think there should be a moderator to delete the really dumb questions, because then there would be hardly any questions here at all.

I doubt Yahoo! would spring for the salary of someone to filter through questions. Why even bother creating a standard for "suitable" questions when everyone has his or her own standards and can self-select which questions to skim and which to actually read.

Well...I think that the really dumb questions are the ones that people appeal to. 1st off people see that question ,so they answer it giving them more points . 2nd off if a person asked the question , no matter how dumb it sounds , it might be important to them .

No. This is the USA. People have the right to be dumb, ask dumb questions and use their dumbest to decide how to vote.

there probably should be, but some people have logically dumb questions! i dont know how that works though.....besides, dumb questions are an easy way to earn points, so who's complaining?

It depends upon whether you want to follow Bert Lance's advice: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," or whether you want to follow instead the Congressional precept, which is a variation on Bert's theme: "If it ain't broke, we'll break it."

Yes, but what about questions with misspelled words? Should they get deleted, or just corrected?
