I agree with you steffers. The rudeness takes my breath away sometimes. The cyncism also runs deep on the board. Keep being honest and sincere with your beliefs and you will impact someone.

(I'm not a Christian, but I'm answering this question because you're speaking about a group that includes me.)
I don't mean this in a rude way, but this is a question-and-answer service, not an opportunity for you to get people to become Christians. Converting shouldn't be your number-one goal here. I can say personally, and I'm sure many "non-believers" here would agree, that I have no desire to be converted. I'm just here for the discussion and because it's fun. There are things I want to know, sure, but I'm not searching for anything in particular, and I'm not here for the sole purpose of trying to find reasons to join any religion.

God leads us to people He has ready for us.
Don't worry about the "bashers" and the angry atheists. If they don't want an honest exchange, don't feed their fire.
We are the ones who are to minister the Gospel and reach the lost. It is up to the Holy Spirit to prime a person and also lead us to the ones He wants us to minister to. Yet, it is not our job to get people saved - that is the Lord's job. We are to preach the Gospel where the Lord would have us to do so.
Didn't Paul say that some plant, others water, but only God can give growth?
If the Holy Spirit leads you to only one person who you can reach - in your whole life, is that acceptible? Yet, others can reach many in one shot - is that acceptible? I say, "Yes!" God knows exactly what He's doing.
Just follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. Don't engage the ones who argue. Take the opportunities that you are presented for outreach. Don't be disappointed by outcome, if you see no results. The Lord is in charge and knows exactly what He's doing.

I can totally agree with you on both points:
I just got off from answering a question in which one of the answerers was very harsh on Christians, to the point that he called the Bible a rather derogatory name. It made me so angry.... but there's not much I could do about it.
By the same token, I also just recently answered a question from a Christian who I think was very confused about the Word and was pre-supposing things not mentioned in scriptures, and all the non-believers were slamming us for that, too.
But you got to realize: Witnessing is like that, no matter what medium you're using. Even if you went out to minister to people on the streets you would be running into the same issues. You gotta keep your chin up and remember this is God's battle, we're just the tools. Everything is going to happen the way He wants it to.
Good luck and my prayers go out to you.

I would have to agree with what you said. I am a Christian and if people have questions about the Bible, Christ, Christians, and more they should ask sincere questions. I have seen a couple of awful questions, but I have seen really good questions too. But, I still agree with all that you said.

As the first answerer so aptly put it, this is not the place for you to SOLICIT for your religion. Community guidelines prohibit this specifically.
What's frustrating is the amount of christians on this board who have never read their bibles cover to cover, never studied anything at all about contemporary history in biblical times, and spout off "answers" like they are experts.. that is totally misleading to those people who really ARE seeking knowledge.

as a fellow christian, i agree this forum can be used so more effectively. people could really get some solid spiritual guidance which could ultimately lead to thier personal salvation through jesus christ, but unfortunately some think its better to just make a mockery of God, because they don't know how to ask a serious Question for fear of being made fun of themselves.

This is a place where people can ask question, asking for peoples knowlege and opinions.
Providing those opinions do not violate Yahoo content guidelines, they are entitled to express them.
Any with view points in entitled to make posts here....it is not designed as a place for you to preach to us and "save" us.

There are TWO [and many more] .... reasons why..... The UNBELIEVERS... Mock GOD.... and the Bible!
They have Been BLINDED.... by Satan... to the Light of THE TRUTH of the Word of GOD!
(2Corinthians 4:3-4) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
(2Co 4:4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
AND......
(Romans 1:16-to-20) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
(Rom 1:17) For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
(Rom 1:18) For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
(Rom 1:19) because the thing which may be known of God is clearly revealed within them, for God revealed it to them.
(Rom 1:20) For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being realized by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse.
THOSE THAT ARE REALLY SEEKING..... GOD..... Will find HIM! Read John 10:16 and..... John 6:37.....!
(Jeremiah 29:11-12-13) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
(Jer 29:12) Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
(Jer 29:13) And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Thanks, RR
