People in the Bible had plagues and were killed for mishandling it. Do you think it matters now?

It must be transported on the shoulders of dedicated men, using special poles which are inserted through rings attached to the sides of it. This is because the ark is similar to the throne of God, and according to the Torah, the voice of God would emmanate from between the two golden cherubim stationed on either side of the ark.

To transport it any other way would be disrespectful and would likely result in some sort of disaster designed to make you stop.

It's not a joking matter.

Well, I think we should certainly handle it with great respect. But, as a Christian, you need not fear a thing.

Why, because the Bible says that WE are kings and priests!

Further, we know that all of those sacrifices never could make a person truly holy. Only the blood of Jesus does that. So, if you are made holy through His blood, then you are holier toward God than even the High Priests of those days.

Further, there being no known Jewish priests, we would have no alternative but to handle it ourselves.

Hope this helps.

You know, that is a good question . Theologians teach that that anyone indwelt by the Holy Spirit is the presant day eqivillant of the ark of the covenant. This may be why there were such strict instructions about how it was to be handled.

Maybe, and the Ethiopians claim that the ark of the covenant is located in Axum.

However, the new and living ark of the covenant is the Blessed Virgin who bore God on earth.

Those who mistreat her should beware.

Oh my gosh, I'd be very careful. In fact, I would be afraid to touch it. I'd call a priest or someone who knew and was holy who could deal with it.

I'd contact the Smithsonian and let them handle it as I'm not particularly interested in it.

only the holy could carry it, and others that thought themselfs rightous and holy died just by touching it. I bet it is the same to day as it was then.
