i am in the process of planning out a sleeve which will be my only tattoo. i really like the theme of the st michael archangel scene and i came across an artist's profile that incorporated that with traditional japanese tattoo. i havent seen anything else on the web which blended styles as this. i am really into it becasue i love that japanese style as well, but is there something negative about altering the style. again, i ask this becasue i havent seen anything else like it.

the entire tattoo would be japanese style. demons, dragon with water on the bottom and a japanese influenced angel with bolts, wind on the top.

Kind of confused on what you're aiming for here. St Michael's Archangel surrounded or influenced by Japanese style?

I endorse a full, tradtitional Japanese sleeve, those are great. I wouldn't merge the two styles (I have a sleeve, which is mostly Japanese, but broken by some contemporary American) and I wish it was just strictly Japanese. But, remember the important thing is.....Do you like it and are you willing to live with this decision.

I love tattoos(9 of them myself) and I think if you like it who gives a crap what others think. I have watched this show on tv about tattoos and ive seen alot of people get sleeves and backs with the japanese theme to it. So I think it will be awesome I say Go for it!

there is absolutely nothing wrong with altering the style. in general water is always done in black and grey but my artist chose to do green and blue water on my japanese style tattoo and i couldn't be happier with it. as long as your artist is confident in the changes that will be made then you should get what will really make you happy. good luck!

I'm not to sure how an angel tattoo could be incorperated into japanese style. If you say that your getting demons & dragons, here's what I'd suggest: a traditional Hanya mask/Oni mask instead. You could say their (like) angels; seeing as how they grant one protection from evil spirits. I think that would be your best possibility.

You might want to repost this... I think you forgot to ask the question! ;0) Sorry, but I don't see it above, the only question is "Japanese inspired tattoo?" I do think it a cool idea though.

a good tattoo artist will be able to merge the two styles...before it is set in ink look at the outline first...then you may or may not like it and go with one style...Good luck

I think some day you will deeply regret this. To many young people are marring their bodies these days and in 20 years or so they are wishing to heck they never did this. Now it is to expensive and to painful to remove. Don't so it!!!!!!!!!
