Ok here it goes, I had a tubal (tubes tied) on thursday, everybody I talked to who has had this done, told me it was a breeze..."NOT"..maybe if you had it done right after you had your baby, it might not have been so bad, but anyways, I am in ,intense horrible dreadful pain, due to the gas in my shoulders, chest, stomache, and cannot get rid of it...I know this sounds bad, but I cant, burb or fart, I cant get any air out of me, the pain meds do not help with the gas, I have walked and walked, and have tried everything, I have not had a bowel movement either, Also I have had 3 other surgerys dealing with the gas pains and none of them has compared to this, I cant stand it anymore, I cant eat, cause if I eat the pain is worse, I cant lie down, cause the pain is unbearable, what sleep I do get I have to sit up, which my back is killing me, has anyone been thru this, and can tell me anything on how to relieve this.....

I had this same surgery and I understand what you are describing. The pain was worse for me around my shoulders and chest, and yes, it was excruciating. Your surgeon should have given you a prescription for pain medication. If it is not helping, call and demand some that is stronger. Keep taking the pain medicine for as long as you have pain. It will gradually work itself out and you will feel better. Use a heating pad on the worst areas of your body. Drink lots of fluids. I had a really hard time having my first bowel movement, too. The anesthesia slows your bowel down. If you are able, drink a little wine. Be very careful of mixing alcohol and pain medication!!! You need to TRY to relax as best you can. It will get better. Good luck.

I was in horrible pain after I had mone done too. I had it right after a csection, and the pain was way worse for the tubal than the csection... For burping, try soda, just chug it. Or tums. The have tons of over the counter laxatives or eat foods high in fiber. trust me the gas will come out. Good luck and remember it will all be worth it in the end!

Argh, I remember the pain, and the constipation.

I know it doesn't help to say it's normal, but it is. It will go away. I had to sleep sitting up for a few nights.

Call your doctor if it keeps up for another 24 hours. Try to avoid lifting anything heavy. Good luck!

I don t have an answer. I m here looking for answers. I had my tubal done Thursday (four days ago). I am having no trouble passing gas or having a bowel movement. However, my stomach is still just as bloated as it was on Thursday. I took GasX Thursday night but found out quick that farting does not affect this as. I was told that this is just floating around inside you and that your body will eventually absorb it. So far, I have not seen a decrease in the size of my belly. I look 4 months pregnant. Is this normal?
