The word 'satan' is the Hebrew transliteration of the word 'adversary.' Therefore, Satan is the one who opposes God. Satan, is the most powerful of the fallen angels.
Satan, also known as Lucifer and the Devil, is said to be the one who entered the Garden of Eden and convinced Eve to disobey God.
There is debate among scholars regarding the time of the fall of Satan.
Some say that he fell when he moved Eve to disobey God. Others state that Satan fell sometime before that and merely manifested his adversarial nature in the Garden.
Still others say that there was a great battle in heaven long before the Garden of Eden and that Satan took one third of the angels with him.

humans are fancy animals who have evolved into creatures who make good choices or bad choices.
Can't have one without the other and I suppose God and Satan are our day/night.
Good/bad.
Yin/Yang .

God loves Satan too, he wants to give him a chance to come back to him even though he know he won't. Satan has free will like us and he chose to go against God just like we did. You could say the same about us, why doesn't he get rid of us and stop us from doing evil stuff, it's because he loves us and he has given us free will to do as we want.

Your question lies in the branch of theology called - Theodicy: the problem of evil. Why, to prove His Love! If there was no Satan - Christ would not have to die for the sins of the world, God's Love to be shown to be love has to be put into action! Oh by the way God does deal with Satan - it is called the bottomless pit and it is with a great chain tied around his leg and it is eternal.

God has a time to bind Satan.

For now, we need to have a choice, essentially. If God were to get rid of Satan and all his trickery, we may as well be automatons or marionettes. Even Satan, back in heaven with his original name, Lucifer, was allowed to attempt to defy God.

God desires that we all choose to follow Him rather than He be the only choice. To decide or choose is a deeper heart conviction, rather than being railroaded to the only source. It is a matter of the heart, really. God wants our hearts, not just that He's all there is.

He's not "All" powerful. All religions have an "All" powerful god or godess, or a Cheif god or godess...thing is, there is no such thing. The reason that there's a struggle between Satan and God is because they're of equal power. Humans are the deciding factor in the end.

Hail Lucifer

if god just got rid of satan he wouldn't be a" just god". satan was originally created as gods most beautiful and cherrished angel "lucifer " as a matter of fact before satan became satan he was in charge of praise and worship, in heaven. he lead the other angels with songs and musical worship. but because his pride and boostfulness. he thought he could be more than god, he wanted to set his own throne above gods'. which at that time he was forever expelled from heaven, hence recieving the name of satan , which means great deciever. the holy spirit is a gentleman he will never impose his will on anyone, 'lest one recieves him. god gives everyone a choice even the fallen angel known as satan.

Because then he wouldn't have a scapegoat for being a malicious and murderous god. Ever notice when someone is "sinning" and is punished by god it's because satan made the person do it and god punished them. Why doesn't god punish satan for tempting the people into sinning?

Satan didn't not interfere with us, UNLESS you are looking / call him.

Satan was once God's Archangel, he brought 1/3 of angels to his side but they lost, so now they are trying everything they can to separate us from the creator.

FREE WILL is the answer. When the end comes, all fallen angels + wicked people + unbelievers will be sent to hell. But before hand, we all will be given a chance to repent before that happened.

Not sure about other religions, but in Islam we believe that Allah swt put Satan on this earth to test people and their faith. If they fall for the Satan's tricks, then they have disobeyed God; if they don't allow the Satan to persuade them to commit sins, then Allah swt will hopefully guide them. God knows best.

That is an excellent question. Unfortunately, I don't believe that there is a human being on this earth that can answer it. Clearly, God chooses not to at this time, although He does promise that the time is coming. Considering that we learn nothing from our successes and are shaped only by our trials and tribulations, I can only have faith that the oft spoke of "plan" is for the best. I know that isn't at all satisfying. Frankly, that's what faith is all about.
