Wait till 8 weeks, one extra 2-3 weeks. it could no longer look as though a protracted time to you yet to a puppy it is a million/3 of its existence so far and via taking it removed from its mom so early you're depriving it of a million/3 of its opportunities to check from its mom. there is not any genuine replace for a mothers self-discipline and affection. My genuine problem would be that the breeder would assist you the take the puppy and set it up for failure like that. it is somewhat useful to re-examine getting the puppy from them, a breeder that would desire to try this does not have the best activity of the puppy or you in strategies. Which says to me that its a BYB. meaning that extra probable then no longer the mummy and dad weren't scanned for ailments, genetic heath or shown worth to reproduce. you may desire to in all hazard be getting an exceptionally ill puppy and not be attentive to till it starts falling aside on you. hit upon a breeder who cares concerning the mummy and dad, who cares the place the puppy is going to and the age at while it is going to its new domicile.

You are going to have a really smart dog- we have a purebred beagle- and he is the smartest dog I have ever owned...and I had a doberman and a Newfoundland.

Get a clicker and use clicker training with him...beagles will work hard for treats. Toby was trained in 10 weeks for house training...no accidents thereafter using that and his crate.

Click the clicker when you see your dog doing something you like, and then treat immediately. For the first 3 months or so, I carried a pouch on my person to treat immediately- and he learned so fast.

He knows a zillion tricks.

His only downfall: He howls when we leave him. Get a crate and train him. Also have plenty of chews and balls around...our dog loves to chew and his balls are his favorite toy.

Good luck and have fun!!!

I hope you are ready for the social problems and the biting problems with not letting the pup stay with it's mother until it's 8 weeks old.
Yo ;better get it into dog obedience classes that might help also get the shots as now it won't have any immunity form the mom as it should up to the 8 weeks when they should be removed for the mom. in the meantime don't take outside much as good chance of getting parvo and other diseases.
Good Luck

The puppy should have stayed with the mom and littermates for at least 2 more weeks. Some puppies stay until they are 10-12 weeks old.

Don't worry about how ppl say he's too young - pups can go to new homes when they are 6 weeks old - they should be fully weaned by then - of course the longer they stay on the mother's milk the better - but by that time the mother dog wouldn't want to nurse them anyways - puppy teeth hurt! it is 8 weeks to get on a plane - I'm assuming you got him from a local breeder. regarding being anti social - you wouldn't socialize a dog until the pup has all his shots anyways - that would be around 4 months including the rabies shots - this is because you don't know whether other dogs your pup come into contact with has all their shots - or your pup might catch something. Puppies can't hold their bladder until their 12 weeks old - so make sure you take him outside periodically - especially right after meals and immediately after he wakes up in the morning or from naps in the afternoon. Make sure he gets all his shots, get a fecal sample to check for parasites.
Hope you enjoy your new puppy.

I think you should make sure he gets plenty of training and socialization especially since he was taken from his mother and littermates 2 weeks too early. It's important a dog stay with his mother until then as he learns so much from his mother and littermates during that time. So I hope you are educating yourself on proper dog training and be sure and expose him to lots of other dogs and people so you raise a happy healthy dog.

Your a little vague about what your looking for input on. It sounds like he's really cute. (I love mutts). But beware. He is probably going to be very hyper for a few years. Good luck and have lots and lots of fun with your new puppy.

I think you should have waited til he was at very least 8 weeks of age.. You are going to have to work alot harder to teach him things that would have come alot easier had he stayed w/ mom and littermates for a couple more weeks.
